Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    All,

The new lcd tvs out all come with built in freeview tuner.

    Question:

Does this mean that if u have sky you can run another cable from the dish and plug it directly into the tv with out the need for a digibox?

Or is this just for the UK market?

    Thanks

By Freeview do you mean DVB-T tuner ? Many sets come with these installed - my Samsung has one. The tuner shares the terrestrial antenna connection (rooftop aerial) and in good signal areas you will be able to receive terrestrial freeview signals.

I live in North Co. Dublin and have a good quality antenna on my roof getting signal from Divis. On clear days I get excellent reception on most of the channels which breaks up in poor weather. The closer to the border you live or the bigger the antenna increases your chances of picking these channels up.

Also if in Dublin or surrounds, the DTT tuner will pick up RTE1, 2, TV3 and TG4 from 3Rock and Clermont Cairn transmitters. NOTE though that they're broadcast as part of a trial, so long term availability of these channels with your inbuilt MPEG2 DTT tuner cannot be guaranteed to last.

No, your freeview tv wont get sky from a satellite tv unless it was a DVB-S tuner with videocrypt decryption for skys scrambled channels.

(It would be a nice idea if Sony and sky done a bravia lcd with this since they are in bed together with the HD marketing :))
