Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Outlook Express send/receive error

A mate of mine has a laptop and a desktop and he uses Outlook Express for his email on both. He has the exact same settings for his mail account on both machines but he can send/receive on the lappie but not on the dektop.
There's a different OS on both;Windows XP Media Edition on the desktop (it's a brand new machine), Windows XP Home Edition on the lappie but that shouldn't make any difference.
I've attached a screen capture of the error. The only thing I can think that it might be is that the port being used (110) is being used by some other program.
It's not a firewall problem 'cause we turned it off to see.

answer seems to be in the error.
    should be mail1.eircom.net

    He is missing the "dot"

Can also be mail2.eircom.net as both are used.

    Shouldn't that be mail1.eircom.net?

What Saruman said the quick bastard.

I'm almost certain we changed that to mail1.eircom.net and it still came back with the same error. I'll have to wait til I get back to his PC to see. I'll email him in the mean time.
