Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can't see Windows Media files on TV

I have one of those VGA to TV converter yokes that allows me to display my laptop screen on TV.
When I play a DVD on the lappie it shows on the TV screen OK, same with FLV files and Quicktime files, but when I play an ordinary MPEG or AVI the program starts OK but the display window on the TV is blank. You can see everything else, just not the video content.
It doesn't matter what program I use,Windows Media Player, DivX Player, nothing works.
I assume it's something I must change in the display properties of my desktop but I don't know what.

i think you need to set the TV screen in display, as the primary screen.

    Yeah it's an overlay problem.

What I would try is download Media player Classic run it and go to tools-options-output & tick the box for overlay mixer, now try playing video in MPC and see if it works.

I got it sorted, thanks. WMC didn't play it 8T8 but when you mentioned "Overlay" I went into "Display Properties-Settings-Advanced" and clicked on the "Overlay" tab. There was a tab called "Theatre mode options" and it was on "standard" so I changed it to "theatre mode".
I only wanted to know 'cause when I d'load an mpeg movie that I want to watch on TV instead of the lappie I can't be arsed going to the trouble of burning it to DVD just for that purpose.
