Have too wait till Klose signs (not his biggest fan but top scorer in 2 world cups well speaks for itself).

    How much are other clubs?

Pats is 21k or there abouts a week  Which is 1k less than Bayerns lowest paid player.

Shame on you, how can you forget Ronaldo in 2002? ;)

Thats unreal money for Toni though! Seriously making up for some of the lows earlier in his career!

Makaay be moving on perhaps? What age is he? Still a class striker though.

Sagnol and Toni are the only surprisingly high ones there. A large number of the players there are paid a lot less than you'd expect. Very small wage bill compared to some of the PL sides.

That's a shockingly high wage bill for a German club-even if it is Bayern!

Income (especially ticket prices) is generally far, far lower in the Bundesliga than in England.

Do their own tv deals so still not at a loss, german TV is one of the market leaders in how to show **** on tv. Sky take lessons from them thankfully the PL dont as they still go with splitting the monies. The day that ends is the day the PL dies.

The wage bill is not bad, but Bayern is one of the most profitable clubs in Europe. In the last 10 years that have turned a profit every year. If you take out the stadium they have no debts at all.

Bayern has according to their latest Books more then 150 million Euro in liquid money on their accounts (after the latest trasnfers).

The reason that they have to pay more to attract top class players is that the Tax Rates in Germany are far higher then in the UK. There are no special exemptions for sport stars. From Tonis 200K only about 100K will be left after taxes and social insurances. AFAIK the UK stars hardly pay any taxes. If you see it in that context then Toni and Ribery won't earn much more then Sidwell or Ben Haim at Chelsea.

Bayern doesn't have it's own TV contract. German Clubs sell the TV rights together, and then the money gets split. Half of it fixed to all 18 clubs and the other half depending on their position within the league after every game day. And yes, german clubs get hardly any TV money compared to the UK clubs. But that's due to the fact that the public channels can't justify spending insane amounts of money on it. And private providers (like Sky) don't have the money. They are not very popular yet due to the fact that germans are very stingy and would never pay 80 or so Euro a month on a subscription service.

BTW.. the whole german 1. and 2. League (36 clubs) will get 420 mil. next season. Of that the 1. Lige gets 78.5 %. In the best case scenario of becoming champion and leading the league all season bayern will get at least 27.3 mil.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,711 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

yep you can watch over 300 premier league games this season for only 10 euros a month, if sky did that, they'd add another zero to the end.

    .

They get 60% of the deal being bayern, germans are stingy but so are the english yet there are far more germans than english so in terms of subs germans do actually pay for it. When i lived there i got to watch bayern every week and not my beloved Bochum.

They dont do a "fair" tv deal like the PL if they did Bochum being the greatest german side ever who play attacking football wouldnt be relegated/bankrupt every 2nd season.

They do indeed. They just signed a new TV contract. Not sure how good your german is, but see below the exact details of how the 420 mil gets distributed.

    http://www.netzeitung.de/sport/bundesliga/380583.html

The worst team in the league will at least get 11.3 mil. The best team will in a best case scenario get at most 28 mil.

So with the ratio bayern dont lose out if they win the league, its the opposite of americans buying clubs when a club strives to win the league based on its squad. Are the PPV games still shown over there? Article doesnt mention them.

Considering Sidwell is reportedly earning 50-60 grand a week sterling, taxes don't even have to be considered for them to be near parity! Bayern's wage bill really is quite small when one takes the exchange rate into account.

They won't be worse off then last year.

What I just wanted to point out that even if they are becoming german champion and dominate the league all season they will still get far less TV money then the worst premiership team. AFAIk they are guaranteed at least 50 mil Euro each next season. Considering that and the low german ticket prices it is quite surprising that they still make loads of profit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,711 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

Arena shows the games on PPV over there, the premier league seems to be the only big league where ppl dont have the choice of watching every game on PPV.

Yeah, I thought that by this stage we'd be able to buy a club package for the season if we wanted, ie I could buy a package to watch all Liverpools games.

I had that with ART Sports :)
not sure whats going to happen for next season

If there was a package that allowed me to watch all Liverpool games I would certainly pay for it. Its the main reason I havent got sky sports. How much is sky sports anyway ?

Tell me about it. Most fans would rather watch their own team every week. Sky would be on to a winner if they did this.

Lahm and Schweinsteiger on £30k per week. They'd probably get double that in the Premiership.

A true fans dream, no doubt. However imagine the production costs for showing every single game live. I just can't imagine all the subscriptions and advertising would be more the outlay involved? If Sky could make money out of it, I'm sure they would provide it.

Considering the wages of others in the squad they should be on treble that at least where they are.

Well sky show up to, what, 8(?) games live on the champions league multiscreen. Max amount of simultanious games on a prem weekend in 10 and that never happens cos the games are spread across Sat/sun/mon

Like Joaquin at Real Betis (Valencia now), Schweinsteiger was hugely hyped but never really delivered.

Im not suggesting they show every team. It would be very possible for them to make massive profits by having packages that show all of the top 4 teams games though. One for Liverpool, one for Utd etc. They do it in America for all their sports and throughout Europe with football.

They are only relaying the games arent they? It would be different if they had to send out their own TV crews to 10 different games a weekend and maybe thats why it would be expensive to do.

TOni on €200k. Holy **** is all I can say

Last year Sky had a team at every single Premiership game. At some time after the game was finished the full 90 minutes was available from every game.

Sky would love to show every Man/Liverpool/Chelsea game live, but the Premier League will not allow it. The clubs have signed up to a collective bargaining position - every team has to get a set number of games a season, thus the TV money is spread somewhat evenly. If individual agreements were allowed, the top clubs would get all the money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭aidan24326

Never thought Bayern would have players on that sort of money. Toni is a decent striker but 200K Euro per week? Madness. The only players who should be on that sort of money would be the likes of Ronaldinho or a 5-years-younger Zidane. Sagnol on 135K, even in sterling that's nearly 90K per week for a player who isn't anything out of the ordinary.

EDIT: you wonder where the spiralling wages will end? We'll have players on a million a week at this rate. The Middlesbrough chairman had a thinly-veiled swipe at Viduka for his OTT wage demands, they wanted to keep him but weren't prepared to pay over the odds.

So, Bayern Wage Bill will go up a bit more now. They just announced the signing of Miroslav Klose.

But that might mean that Makaay has to go.

Makaay is wanted by several clubs. He won't retire. He is supposed to sign for PSV this week. But Lyon & Feyernoord have also offered him a contract according to the german papers.

Podolski will stay and learn. Santa Cruz has been told that he can leave, but hasn't found a club yet.
