If you are in a band and looking for a name try not to call yourself the somethings, it's gotten beyond old at this stage

I thought this was a thread about The The. I guess it is in a way.
Anyway, all the best bands are The something.

Each to their own Mordeth. I could list a lot of bands that I like that are 'The something'. Maybe you'd disagree, but I don't see how it is beyond old.

I've no problem with the ****, but I just disagree that all the best bands have the before their name. Granted the best band do, the beatles.. but they're a one-off.

How did that little fad ever happen anyway? It really irritates me. You can more or less guess what a band is going to sound like if it's come out in the last 4 years or so with "The" in the title.

oh and don't get me started on the Beatles :p

I was kind of paraphrasing Jimmy Rabbitte there; I should have clarified.
I agree: to say that all the best bands have a 'The' is as ridiculous as saying it is tired or predictable. IMO.

I love The The. Soul Mining and Dusk are ****ing brilliant.

    :p

I kind of associate 'The {band_name}' with annoying new bands too. Its a very 60's-garage name style. The Kooks. The Hives, The Bravery, The Enemy etc.

That's the only The The album I don't have.

I think it's great, and I'm not a Hank Williams or The The fan! you should take a listen. He said in the liner notes that it was to be the first in a series of covers albums, I don't think any more has come of that.

I like both Hank Williams and The The so I'd better get around to buying it!
