Not meaning to be smart, but if your going in with that sort of attitude, why are you looking outside of another toyota at all?

On the Max Headroom (and max elbow room) front there would be the likes of Renault Kangoo, Citroen Berlingo, Fiat Doblo ...ultimately practical vehicles, but not to everyones taste.

As long as he's not style concious (sp?) they are good choices, but I have a feeling they'll be qquickly shot down on looks alone.

I'm buying a Kangoo soon, but it'll be in van form and for work, so slightly different needs. :)

Ford seem to have overcome all their old reliability problems. See this review of the Focus in the Daily Telegraph when it first came out. The Telegraph's main motoring writer, Honest John, ranks the Focus above the VW Golf in terms of quality and value.

Honda Civic hatchback would fit the bill (last model)

I'm the same height as youself and drove a peugeot 307 hdi for 4 years. There's both great headroom & legroom in it and it's very comfortable. You'll hear people rant amd rave about reliability etc but in my four years driving and clocking up 85k miles I've (touch wood) had no problems with the car.My wife still drives it now with 102k miles and it's running perfectly.

Audi A2. I'm 6'3 and there's loads of room in mine.

Same as mine. I'm 6'2" and 16 stone and there's loads of room. And the back is roomy with the lower floor.

But would you get one for 7k?
