Terry Jenkins won Saturdays Players Championships in Hayling Island by beating Wes Newton in the final. Mick McGowan had a poor tournament going out in the first round. John Part won Sundays Players Championships by beating Mervin King in the final. Part won the Canadian Championships a few days before to make it a great week for him. Mick McGowan lost in the second round to Tony Eccles to continue his poor run of form.

These two tournaments were used to decide the final 4 qualifiers for the World Matchplay. Adrian Gray, Steve Beaton, Michael Van Gerwen and Mervin King are the qualifiers. Jelle Klaasen just missed out.
