Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The odds on any one of those ten winners winning it next year is probably a lot less than a team outside the top 4 in England winning it though.

Yes but as I said alreay, theree really is no difference between putting some of them on 40-1 and putting SPurs on 100-1. Neither is going to happen next season, and I'd put my own money on that.

Look at the year before, where Osasuna, with no history of success, pushed Barca for almost the whole season.

Surely thats not a good reflection on the leagfue. A poor side has a good season and comes close to winning it. The same happens in England (Everton in 05, Spurs in 06) and the result is one scraping 4th and the other nearly scrapign 4th. All I can see there is that the top Spanish teams are all more likely to underpreform at the same time than the top English sides. Maybe thats the reaosn for tighter odds.

Have you ever seen a poor bookie? Spanish league may be more competitive but outside of Depor, who other than Barca, Madrid and Valencia have won the league in the last 10 years?
Make it 12 years and you can add Atl. Madrid to that list (they won the double in 95 under Raddy Antic). The Spanish championship also tends to go to the final day more than most - this year even Sevilla were there on the final day, in 2003 Real Sociedad, back in the early 90s when Barca won 5 in a row Real Madrid blew it on the final day at Tenerife twice, and Deportivo were also a last kick of the season penalty miss from the championship.

Ha, if you actually look at the Spanish league records you'll find only 9 different winners since in its 78 year history, 7 different winners since 1947. Competitive my arse.
The point is, that in recent history (Premiership era / the last decade or so) it has become the most open league.

It's much or a muchness really. Spain has , what, 5 winners since the Premiership started and England 4.

Remember though, success for the likes of Atletico Madrid, Depor and Valencia was achieved without Jack Walker / Abramovich type figureheads using their financial muscle to breach the big two. Only Arsenal's achievements can really compare. The likes of Sevilla and Sociedad (up against the Galacticos) taking it to the final day is almost as impressive a feat as winning it.
