Alternatives to a mouse?

After years of using a mouse and perhaps just being on the PC way too much, didn't have too much choice as I've needed a pc to do my work. Anyway my fingers are starting to hurt, perhaps it's even Repititive Strain Injury :eek: . I'm going to try and restrict my use of the pc as much as possible but I still need to use it, just wondering if anyone could recommend any good alternatives to the mouse?

Cheers, yeah had thought about trackballs, but as far as I can tell, trackballs still place your index and middle finger in the same way, it is this positioning that is causing the problem for me. Is it possible to use a joystick effectively instead of a mouse?

One of the normal ergonomic replacements for a mouse is a joystick like device that you move like a mouse. It avoids the finger placement issues that a mouse causes.

EDIT: This is the kind of thing I mean. I've know a couple of people who had to use them and they found them to be a big improvement.

You can also use the wiimote as a wireless pointer, i think it is still a bit buggy but worth a try
