Clear your history, cookies, temp internet files , Delete all your Porn movie/folder files. Then empty your recycle bin.
Run a spyware/adware program to get rid of any nasties that came with the porn and then run a history cleaner app...
If that doesn't do it. Format your drive.

What happened your girlfriend move in or did you just hear about the arrests on the news lol

Seriously the only way to be completely sure is to instal a new hard drive and have at the old one with a hammer.

There is a Firefox extension called Stealth or similar that supposedly makes sure no history/cookies etc are stored on the computer, just the porn files themselves. Good luck OP ;)

large magnet -> microwave -> hammer -> repeat.

    I think that's a bit extreme, it's just a bit of porn.

Spybot includes a "secure" deleter in the "Tools" section whichshould be more than adequate for porn removal.

One would have thought you would have read the charter....

Anyway, if you're really paranoid you could format your hard drive and reinstall windows, but that's a bit extreme.

Delete History, Temporary Internet Files etc. basically any private data your web browser stores(should be the option to delete it in your browsers options). Also, Go Start->Search->For Files and Folders and search for "*.jpg", which will find all the pictures on your PC and show up any porn pics you might have missed.

Writing over the entire disk with 0's is a bit of a technical feat and also requires a IMO considerable level of paranoia.

Delete history, temp folders cookies and the files themselves etc as described above, then create some large files (non porn) and copy them over and over again into different locations until the drive is as full as can be, then delete them and defragment your drive. This should make any files you had unrecoverable except for file fragments by the Gardai or computer science dept of a university.

You don't need to have a baby about deleting every last url and rar,if anybody finds any traces just say ahh yeah thats the spywear/viruses for ya or ohh christ I've hacked, coupled with lashing of barefaced lies.

Off topic but no. The only way to ensure data is unrecoverable from your disk is to take a hammer to it, get the platters, add copious amount of diesal/petrol/[flammable liquid of choice] and burn the thing to dust.

Or just pull the plug in the middle of a reformat/partition creation:D

data can still be extracted from it if you do that.

The interesting thing here is that the topic has for some reason diverted into the gardai searching the hard drive when in reality the OP has like 99.999999999% of porn viewers got totally legal porn on his pc and simply wants to remove it for his moral mind. So
    a) go to tools, options and delete history, files etc etc.
    b) fill your harddrive and defragment
    c) full reinstall and format

The op asked for "steps to remove it totally from my pc ?"
And that's what people have been trying to provide answers for.

You can 0 a drive (make every bit on the drive 0). Also, remember to clear the documents folder and media player history :)

could you tell me the steps to remove it totally from my pc ?

If you don't want to destroy your drive, here is what you need to do:

    1. Delete all of the sensitive files you have saved to disk, delete your browser history/cookies/cache etc. (Firefox has a nice option for this called "Clear Private Data"), and delete any lists of "Recently opened Documents" in your various media players and in the Start Menu.

Make sure before you go onto the next step that you have deleted absolutely everything you're concerned about.

    2. Download a Freespace Wipe utility of some kind, this writes zeros or random data into every unallocated block of your hard-drive. You will need to do this at least 7 times, the more the better really.

After that, the data should be completely gone, with the possible exception of whatever traces are left in your swap space (the large file that Windows uses to supplement its physical memory). If you're still concerned, then it's time to destroy the drive. :)

Note: on their own, Formatting, Deleting, and Defragmenting will do nothing. Defragmenting is especially problematic.. never Defragment until you've done a Freespace Wipe many times.

I've a program on the pc called ultra wipe which supposedly makes files totally unrecoverable. that just a lie from the makers?

There is no evidence anywhere to suggest that you need to overwrite your disk more than once with 0s. Even if the FBI/NSA, American black project secret police got your once-overwritten hard drive, there is absolutely no way to recover the data. The 7 times rule is an out of date Peter Guttman advisary which only applies to old MFM drives, that and magnetic resonance imaging.

Good, I've never been arsed to do it more than once anyway :) It takes ages!

if you just want to delete files why not use this rather than format the drive? http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/reviews.php
