ableton problem...

    Anybody think of reason for this?

    When i record an external synth (plugged directly to sound card) onto ableton, The recorded track seems to have recorded all other tracks which i played along too. (As in not just the synth on its own)

    pretty new to this so hope its a simple answer!

    Sounds like you are recording in "resampling" mode.

    Alternatively, it may be recording from a built in microphone, I dont know your setup but I presume youre playing along with the bed as you record.

    In the bottom right area there is a little button labeled "I-O". If you click this you can select your routing options for each track.

    All of this is covered in the inbuilt beginner tutorials in Lives help menu.
