hi all, I'm hoping that ye can tell me what is the best model for Digital cordless twin handset please?
It will be connected up to an Eircom land line.

Main features I am looking for:
Very good Range from base station outdoors and indoors.
    Caller display.
Easy to use/big buttons - the folks will be using it.

other features that would be a bonus:
Storing last incoming & outgoing calls.
    Phonebook.
    Handsfree/Speakerphone.
Text messaging (SMS) to landline or mobile numbers
    Backlit screen.

does text messaging work from any digital phone?

I got a twin Eircom (Sagem) 6000 and they are rubbish. Wouldn't recommend:
    • Battery life very poor & have to charge every night.
    • Reponse time to buttons being pushed way too slow
    • Display slow to catch up with input
    • No address book sync between handsets - so manually enter all numbers twice !!! Thats a real pain in the...
    • On plus side - range good and they are robust (have dropped a few times); ok SMS; Good handsfree speaker

I hadnt thought of robustness or Battery life,
it'd be a pain to charge em every night alright, or if the batteries run down after a short while, I'll keep that in mind.

    I've found some here:

more tips in PM from user Raiser , he couldnt post so here it is ......

I rang local Harvey Nornam and they recommended a Panasonic one for good range, we want to be able to bring the phone outside

    Hi Rok,

Can't post on your thread because of Websense here at work !!!

Please avoid the Philips cordless phones on the market [currently available in Argos too]. Poor volume, battery-life, reception isn't great, feel cheap/poor construction - am very disappointed as I have been with a few other Philips products in the past year or two.

Actually had a pair of Cocoon ones that I bought in Lidl which were a much better product in every way - would still be happily using these had the missus not sent them sub-aqua once or twice......

    - Actually if you wouldn't mind - will you please post this on your thread so that other folks are warned !!!

P.S. Make sure they have Intercom feature - nice to have at times

    Regards,

    Raiser.
