I saw two plain clothed guards pull over a car in Ballycullen last night. They had an unmarked 07D Opel Astra (I kid you not!). Blue flashing lights on top of dash and in rear indicator area, plus two aerials at rear of roof. Same colour as above BMW.

    Woman driver... :)

exactly.. waste of a thread this. Now the lancer evos that the cops in the uk have for pursuits, thats worth a picture.

Its our tax paying money that they use to buy these cars. Is a bmw a good economic purchase for a cop car? I personally dont think so. Even if its not a high performance motor its still an expensive car so i think the thread is by no means a 'waste'.

Now that the greens are in coalition, maybe we will be chased by Brabus Smart Fortwo's..:D
Are these bmws actually white with garda and a very amateurish florescent stripe. Ive seen these stripes close up and they are anything but professionally cut with a blunt scissors or knife. Looks like the contract must have been awarded to Playskool.....

just a sugestion, anyone think that the beemer might have been one of a number of cars pulled over?.,
they do it all the time, the wait behind a bush/sign/bend and then just pull a load of people at the same time.,

^^^ Not many 07 cars would have no dealer/leasing house stickers or number plate frames, so safe to say its one of the boys in blue new wheels.

Maybe someone should be talking to the Guard about being stopped on a dangerous bend forcing people to cross a continuous white line to get past him, even though there is a lay by right beside him. He's even driving like a BMW driver.

You'll have to prove the pic was taken with a phone and not a camera first.

If a cop sees you taking a picture of him with a camera I think you'll be in more trouble somehow.

The purpose of the thread is to illustrate that the Gardaí are now using BMWs. This may not be of interest to you, but it is very useful information to some of us.
Indeed it is....it's nice to see that our plethora of tax revenue is being wisely invested in our country's future by putting law enforcement officers out onto the roads in over priced prestige cars that don't really do much that a mondeo, avensis or some other regular fleet car does.
Not to mention the added expense in sourcing parts or bodywork....which as a cop car will be badly dinged by the end of it's first month in service.

As someone mentioned above, sure, put cops out onto the road in performance vehicles where necessary, but having them in a low powered status symbol serves no other purpose than demonstrating what a bunch of f*cktards hold the purse strings in the dept of justice.

I saw the cop getting out of the car and if you look carefully at the photo you'll see the flashing blue light integrated into the reverse lights on the left...
