I have nothing against science subjects... hell up until a while ago I was planning on doing physics in college. : p

I just don't think you're right about that reducing career options by 60% stuff. : )

Personally I find science subjects very boring, and I am very disinterested unless there is a very good teacher who will stimulate my interest in it. My school lacks those.

Science is only a step away from magic, what student doesn't want to study MAGIC?

Every school that offers Tech Graph should be offering the new course as the syllabus has changed. The old course will be examined for the last time next year.

Im considering doing Economics as an extra subject in a grind school as its a short course and is easily completed in 1 year. I also like that side of commerce from Junior Cert Business Studies.

My dog took a big bite out of my knee the other day and a friend of mine said, "Did you put anything on it?" I said. "No, he liked it as it was."

    Economics.

I don't do it, but I hear it's a nice enough subject with a fairly short course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,739 ✭✭✭Jello

Yeah I heard it's a good subject to do very well in if you're into Business, and there's not too much work involved.

But if you're not into Business (like me), then it's a real bore.

Though I suppose that's the case for a lot of subjects...

What is everybodys favourite and best subject. This is my order:

1.Geography ( Brill, great teacher, great notes, we never use that stupid book, somebody should write a book on the guy ) 5:)

    2.Chemistry ( Happy days, happy days ) 4 and a half :)

    3.French ( Fils de put, c'est genial! ) 4 :)

    4.Irish ( Ta muinteoir iontach agam ) 4 :)

5.Maths ( Nice subject when you have no problems, but can be an arse if your having difficulties) 3 and a half :)

6.Biology ( This interesting subject has been tarnished by my **** teacher) 3 :)

7.English ( Why Shakespeare?, why peotry? we can speak the language! ) 2 :)

Yes.....but if you did HL for JC there is no reason not to do HL for LC!! IMHO irish is one of the easier subjects...

    WTF? moderator

Are moderators meant to be anti-Irish now? : )

By the looks of it, OL Irish for LC is comparable to HL Irish for JC. Us in the HL class are writing big character analysis stuff and the OL class come in having written half a page on a concert they attended... Oh the simple life. It gets tempting, but I love Irish too much to take the easy option.

Irish is sooo hard for the JC compared to OL. Anyone else swithching from HL to OL?

Sure there is. I don't plan to use Irish for anything except to pass it and get into university. That's a lot easier to do when you're doing ordinary level so doing higher level would be harder and thus there'd be needless amounts of stress. It could also affect my performance in my other subjects. The only reason I see to support the idea of me doing Higher Level Irish is that I'd feel smarter.

Irish is a lot harder than most subjects in my opinion. I could put the same amount of work into Irish as I do in any other subject yet my Irish grade would be so much lower.

Yeah true i know i really didnt give a sh1t about it in primary school and thus really never got into it. To be honest if your good at it as in b/a student then go for H in the LC and it might give you leverage over one of your weaker subjects. If you did H level for the JC and just manage to get by [as in get a b or so but still not have a clue what you right down] try H level for a month or so and if it doesnt work go down to OL at least then you ll be the smartest one in the class :P
