Tom Dunne is sitting in for Ray d'Arcy this week and has started a competition. What you have to do is set your ipod/mp3 player to shuffle and email todayfm with the first 10 songs that come up. The address is shuffle@todayfm.com. The weirder and more diverse the better, and these will be played then on air, 1 list each day between 11 and 12. This is what mine threw back

    1. Pinball Wizard - The Who
    2. Everything is Everything - Lauryn Hill
    3. Luminous Times (Hold on to Love) - U2
    4. What do you do for Money Honey - AC/DC
    5. Bloodbath in Paradise - Ozzy Osbourne
    6. Last Night - The Strokes
    7. Trapped - Bruce Springsteen
    8. Sympathy for the Devil - Guns n Roses
    9. Didjerama - Jamiroquai
    10. Shant/Ashtangi - Madonna

    Is there a prize?

depends on whether you call having your playlist played on Today FM for an hour next week a prize or not...

    I don't, to be honest.
I'm happy enough to listen to my playlist without advert/chatter interruptions!

Didn't email it in, but as it's an interesting idea, I did check it out to see what turned up:

Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush

I sent in this. Its not exactly the middle of the road AOR that Today FM spews out daily.

    1. End of All Hope - Nightwish (Century Child)
    2. Poison - Alice Cooper (Trash)
    3. Lost - Tristania (World of Glass)
    4. Crystal Mountain - Death (Symbolic)
    5. War Pigs - Black Sabbath (The Best of)
    6. Revenga - System of a Down (Mezmerize)
    7. Preliator - Globus (Epicon)
    8. Sweet Sacrifice - Evanescence (The Open Door)
    9. Your Sweet 666 - HIM (Greatest Love Songs Volume 666)
    10. Baba O'Riley - The Who (Who's Next)

What ye think of the first one? Very safe selection I reckon! Thin Lizzy, Razorlight, REM and Queen .....

It's a good idea, but Dave Fanning done it a couple of years ago and done a better job IMO.

Here's what mine came up with:

    1. Oliver's Army - Elvis Costello
    2. Delta Dawn - Helen Reddy
    3. Never Let You Down - Don Baker
    4. Sara - Fleetwood Mac
    5. In the Ghetto - Elvis Presley
    6. School's Out - Alice Cooper
    7. Can't Get Used to Losing You - The Beat
    8. Destination Dreamland - Dominic Mulvaney
    9. Veronica (Acoustic) - Elvis Costello
    10. Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - Cher

That said, with a pretty eclectic list that includes over 11,000 songs, that's not particularly representative of the overall playlist (e.g. it doesn't include any of the good up-to-date stuff that I have)

Todays one didnt deviate from what they usually play at all. Its what I expected from Today FM tbh. Man I hate that station.

Ya I was quite disappointed with the selection TBH, every single song was something that is played on a fairly regular basis... I was expecting to hear some crazy off the wall type stuff... But seen as how every radio station in this country is all about conforming to the norm, that won't happen for week... What's wrong with playing some rock&roll, heavy metal, classical, indie, pop etc.(whatever) all on the one station? Can't we have variety?
