Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wireless problems...

OK, so my parents are having a big problem with the wireless network in their house.

The setup is an Esat BT broadband connection coming into a ZyXEL Prestige 600 modem which was supplied by them. This then sends the network connection into a DELL 2350 Wireless Router which sends a network connection into the home PC and runs a wireless network.

Most of the time the home PC runs fine, with occasional dropouts on it, but these are minor and quite rare, and when they occur, we just reboot the modem and router and things are back up and running quickly.

The main problem is with the wireless network. Currently an old XP Dell inspiron 8600 with an inbuilt dell wireless card cannot connect. It sees the connection and supposedly connects but nothing will work, occasionally windows updates work, but no other programs such as browsers, itunes, uTorrent etc work. For the last three years this laptop and the home PC have both run off the same router at the same time without any problems at all. However now, even when everything is turned off and we try just the laptop and the modem and router, there's no connection at all. The traditional approach of reboots, diagnose & repairs etc etc don't work. I've tried re-installing the wireless driver.

I recently got a new Dell Precision M65 laptop, which initially connected fine and co-existed with the other laptop but now has major problems connecting. It's running Vista and sometimes only shows "local access" in the wireless dialog. Currently, for no discernable reason, this laptop and the home PC seem to be working alright.

Both laptops fail to run whether they're in close proximity or in another room to the router. The main problem is in having the XP laptop running as I'm not here very often and hence nor is the new Vista laptop.

The router is running "out of the box" and I haven't done anything firmware-related or anything since setting it up 3 years ago. Is the router most likely to be the problem, or could it be something else? Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!
