Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What now for Fabio Capello?

Amazing that Fabio Capello, who's now won 9 Championships with 4 different clubs (including the 2 Juve were stripped of), and has a 100% championship winning record in Madrid against Ronaldo and Ronaldinho inspired Barca teams (not to mention the most one sided European Cup final ever against Cruyff's 'Dream Team'), could be sacked - only in Madrid! A lot of interesting quotes lately:
If I had to leave, I would leave with my head held high.

"The best teams already have a coach so I could retire two years before I intended."

He added: "We should ask him (Calderon) what is happening. I was brought here to win, we won and I believe I have done my duty.

"The possibility of me staying is like throwing a coin up in the air. I only know that I want to remain to win the Champions League.

"I have already booked my return flight to return to Madrid on July 19 because our pre-season starts the day after."

"We have to wait on the report from the sporting department of the club," Calderon told reporters at a media briefing. "They will make recommendations as to whether Capello should stay on as coach or not. We will decide next Monday or Tuesday

He's burnt his bridges with the Roma fans, was seen to jump ship at Juve then raid them for players, and Milan don't need him...

    only Inter remain??
Capello also commented on the latest financial scandal involving Inter, who are accused of falsifying their accounts to register for the 2005-06 campaign.
“I watched Serie A closely this term. I was very close to Milan and Roma, unfortunately Juventus were not in the tournament. I was a little less supportive of Inter, obviously.”

    http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun23f.html

“It would be great if they stripped the Nerazzurri of that title and they were to assign it to Roma,” grinned the former Juve boss, who originally won the 2006 Scudetto before being stripped of it in the Calciopoli scandal.

“I kept on hearing statements in Spain on how Inter’s Scudetto win was ‘clean’ and ‘honest’…” concluded Capello.

“In all honesty, I want absolutely nothing to do with the Italy squad. I shan’t stick my nose in. It is of no interest to me,” said the man who had been contacted by the English FA.

And despite Ronaldo's scathing criticism of him upon leaving Real:
“Ronaldo needed a change of scenery to rediscover his motivation. He is the best player I have ever coached,” assured the former Juventus boss on Sky Italia.

    http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun23f.html
    The other legendary Milan coach:
Fabio Capello has hit back at Arrigo Sacchi, who accused him of only being successful against mediocre opposition.

The two former Milan Coaches have always had a very different philosophy of the game and Capello’s exploits in leading Real Madrid to their first La Liga title in four years has not changed Sacchi’s opinion.

“His words are a compliment for me, especially because they come from a Coach who got the door slammed in his face twice in Spain,” Capello told Sky.

“He joined Atletico Madrid and they sent him away, he joined Real Madrid with a directorial role and they sent him home too.

“I guess he still has not woken up after receiving those two blows,” sniped the Pieris-born tactician.

    And Beckham says:
"I convinced Capello the same way I've always come back from things that have been said about me," the News of the World quotes Beckham as saying in his farewell interview as a Real player.

"When someone says I'm not up to the job or like when he said I would never play for Madrid again, I thought it's up to me now to prove that I am professional.

"But Capello has shown what kind of man and manager he is the way he's come out and said sometimes you have to go back on your word.

"I was thankful he'd done that because thinking I'd never play for Madrid again was hurting me a lot."

Although he respects Capello for making bold decisions, Beckham claims his manager did not apologise for dropping him.

He explained: "He never came to me and said 'sorry David, I was wrong'.

"Without a doubt he's a strong-minded person, who is respected throughout football.

"He admitted he wanted me to come back into the team and I'm thankful for that.

"I would never come out and publicly criticise him because I respect him."

We would Madrid want to get rid of the manager who got them their first league title in four years? The board need to sort themselves out.....

Haven't they learned anything? The last time they sacked a title-winning manager, it took them 4 years to win another.

Great manager and Real would be retarded to sack him.

Has there been any reason given as to why Real would sack him? I can't see any good one myself...

because all he did was win the league by playing counter attack, compact football.

the real madrid board want the club to win la liga and the champions league every year, but thats not good enough, the league and the champions league have to be won by playing attractive attacking football, ie arsenal or barca style. the bernabeau is like a bull fighting ring, the fans must be entertained. real were booed this season while they were winning ffs.

i'm shocked that a club run like they are managed to win the league, despite the half assed efforts of barca this year, least it made for interesting viewing.

schuster will be the manager of rea by this time next month, guaranteed.
