Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Yo folks,

Anyone know if there is any 3rd party drivers for my XFI Fatal1ty soundcard in Ubuntu?

Have googled it a bit and most sites seem to say that Creative have given the ALSA team a card but they are all outdated and I cant find any up to date information.

Im not too pushed on getting the front breakout box working, just as long as i can hear sound! (And no, I'm not switching to onboard sound everytime I boot into Ubuntu :) )

Ive emailed Creative myself so we'll see how it goes!

If you're running Feisty, try the Restricted Drivers menu entry to see if there is anything there for you.

The X-Fi series of products are not supported under Linux. (Yet)
Closed-source drivers will be available for the X-Fi series of sound cards.
It looks like the first public Beta will be available end calendar Q3 or early calendar Q4.

Card delivered to developers. Completely new architecture. Creative actively preventing support due to no datasheets being released to ALSA developers. Reverse engineering work not started due to lack of time.

    Dear Gary,

Thanks for contacting Creative Technical Support.

With regards to your enquiries, I am sorry to inform you that your sound
card does not support Linux and there is no driver available for Linux
    operating system.

Information about installing and using selected Creative products in
    Linux is available at http://opensource.creative.com.

As Creative products are not officially supported in Linux, Customer
Support cannot provide telephone or email assistance for Linux users.

I hope that I was able to help you with this information and if you have
any other questions or clarifications in this regard, please do feel
    free to mail me.

Looks like I'm uninstalling ubuntu so....

Oh, poo. I think I read months ago in a Linux magazine that they were working on a Linux driver. Still waiting. I had the same problem for a few months for my integrated sound to be supported by the kernel. I'm sure your card will be supported in one of the new kernel releases to come.

    Woohooo!

Although I've read that its a pain in the hole to get working and only works on 64-bit machines, its a step in the right direction!
