Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well I have tried MPEG4 that does not work ,is there only a few formats it work with ?I thought with the deocder it converts to wmv when your streaming to the x box?I also figured if yuo can play it in TVersity that you can stram to the x box?

Nope - it's just some spanner trying to drum up some dodgy business for himself (thinks of it as a way to get free advertising)...

I can't get my iPod MPEGs to work either but I downloaded the Superc converter to convert them to WMV but it is a bit slow and the quality isn't 100%. Anyone know of an easier way?

Providing your pc/laptop has a half decent CPU you should not need to
convert video to WMV as tversity will transcode on the fly.

    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/stream_video_xbox_360_tversity.cfm
Is a good setup guide, it may be for an older version but principles are the same.

If you can connect your 360 to your PC and play mp3 via tversity it
sounds like you have your firewall settings correct and my first guess
would be you have your codecs set-up incorrectly. This can happen
if you install the codec pack and TVersity in the wrong order.

If it was me, I'd uninstall both TVersity and FFdshow.
    Reboot your machine.
Download the latest version of TVersity from their site. The newer
versions don't need any patches like some guides mention.
Follow a guide like this and ensure you follow each step.
Make sure your firewall is open for the relevant ports.

I think my problem was that I didn't bother installing FFdshow. Do you have to?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,330 ✭✭✭Gran Hermano

Not installing FFdshow is the reason it can't convert the
video and why you're getting either no picture or sound
    but no picture.

    FFdshow contains the required codecs.

Thanks Gran. I downloaded FFdshow and it worked but my computer couldn't handle streaming a 30 minute T.V. show. Do you know any good converter. I might just convert my videos and put them on a Hard drive and play them though that.

Super is probably the best converter out there (free or otherwise).
Simply drag and drop a batch of the movie files and convert to WMV.
This should save on the PC resources when streaming as they will not
need transcoding for playback on the 360.

You can also tweak TVersity to adjust the quality of the on-the-fly
conversion if your CPU is struggling. Also make sure your PC is not running
any resource hungry applications at the same time as you're transcoding.
I'm using my laptop to convert divx/xvid on-the-fly via a wireless lan and
    it's great.

I tried Super but it can be slow and the quality isn't 100%.

What's the resolution of the source material? Do they look ok when running
full screen on your PC? Often times if they are Ipod specific format the
resolution may be lower than your actual TV resolution.

Check the file size, if a 40 minute video clip is less than 350 MB it's a safe bet
the resolution is low and will give you poor quality regardless of what you
use to convert. Super is by far one of the better converters out there, but
it can not perform miracles. Check your file sizes/image resolution and maybe
try adjusting the settings in Super.

I have decided to use my iPod to play my videos on my T.V. but the quaility of the videos are brilliant before I put them on my iPod but when I put the videos on my iPod and play them back on my T.V. the quality isn't as good. If I convert them using the Super converter will it improve the quailty? Thanks.

If you Divx installed anywhere or if it installed with a codec pack, then remove it as it is already part of ffdshow. Having it installed twice is generally the problem. I installed the klcodec pack, but unchecked divx option an d all works fine.
