    Word of warning:

    I was on this server for the first time last night.

    While holding my line at the start, someone turned into the side of my car and spun out onto the grass.

    They responded by berating me via the chat and when I logged on this morning, lo and behold there was a private message from same driver (can you believe)

    If it's racing you're after, this may not be the place for you!

    I've been driving GPL on the VROC servers for several years and never came across this kind of whining before....it would be funny if it wasn't so annoying.

    1st of all the driver that YOU hit didn't say a word. It was me (a 3rd party), i was the admin and i was watching the start of the race. You we both beside each other and you turned towards him and hit him. With the crappy collision detection in LFS you got spun off. That driver then waited to let you back on the track ahead of him as he felt guilty. On the next corner when this driver was beside you again you did the same thing...
    All i said to you was: You need to look around you a bit more. You were not aware that driver was beside you. I realise you are/were new to the game so that's why i offered my advice.
    You then decided to stop the car on the racing line and then you said "forget this" and left.
    That to me is not a good attitude when someone is offering advice. So i PM'd you, maybe i didn't have to but i don't like it when i try help someone and they throw it it my face.
    Anyway seeing your true colours lastnight your not welcome in this league anymore, you have been removed.

    You were sitting there watching, handing out warnings, like some deranged Norman Bates character?

    Maybe I'm too used to GPL, but there, once the race starts there is no chat allowed - and nobody sits watching the race...any transgressions of rules are dealt with afterwards. All drivers respond to black flags, stop-go penalties, etc. themselves during the race.

    I have a replay of the LFS incident - it bears absolutely no resemblance to what you have just said, mainly because you have confused who was who.

    I can only hazard a guess that you got the drivers mixed up and barked at the wrong one.

    I would suggest this may not be the best way to organise a race - it's enough to keep focused on the action, without trying to read what instructions you're belching out.

    You remind me of the fella in Father Ted with the whistle!!! :)

    This is really bizarre stuff.

    I'm glad it happened before the league started as I would hate to have spent a minute participating in this debacle.

    Am I going mad or is this the way all LFS racing is done?! :eek:

    It was only a pick-up and play race. Chatting is generally permitted, depending on the sever. It is my server and i allow chatting during practice races. Although i wouldn't actually call it chatting, like i said above i was giving you some advice.

    No, it was you. "barking" are you deranged? Again... i was handing out advice. If you had been on any other server they would have kicked you without saying a word. Some public servers a quite harsh.

    I've run many leagues in LFS in the past including a World Championship which had more than 400 drivers registered. So i don't need your suggestions on how to run a race, thanks anyway though.

    Thought id look at replay before commenting.
    Peter Collins did infact cause the incident,,purely a racing incident and nothing malicious.
    The guy Pilot was decent enough to almost stop to let PC continue back onto the track ahead of him.
    To me this was a conscious decision and extremely fair,kudos to him.
    Its not my server or anything but this could have been the end of it.

    I can only guess that PC would not have been impressed with a message from admin telling Pilot to continue on and that it was the fault of PC.
    Some might take this as a cheap shot and a somewhat hostile comment.
    I personally would not but from my experience of online racing its hugely possible.

    Nik then said PC might want to look around a bit more which is a fair call from what i saw of the incident.
    Whether it was needed or not is another thing.
    Again its not my server and im not sure what the policy is on Niks server,it is his server however :)

    Racing isnt just about the fastest line, hot laps are ofcourse but racing is about giving and taking and making room for others and being aware of your surroundings and who is beside you.
    In that sence Niks comment about looking around was correct but again some may take it as a hostile jibe maybe?

    I just think this is a storm in a teacup :)
    Neither of the parties involved gave out abuse from what i saw on the replay.
    Just my thoughts on a total neutral here guys :)


    I do agree with PC about LFS compared to GPL on VROC,i cant think of any incident in my years on GPL and VROC.
    In LFS there is always noob this and noob that on the servers,that to me is the only downfall.
    Im just speaking of LFS/GPL in general here.

    Either way im not sure this is the place to trash out your differences guys - if ya know what i mean :)

    Why is he sending out these BS messages DURING the race?? What is it to him? He's not even out there - he's sitting like Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window watching it all like a lunatic....like yer man in Father Ted with the whistle?!!!!

    Seems to me he'd be better off organising the bloody league properly first, (it did take him ONE YEAR) before he goes on this power trip pissing people off all over the shop who just want to do a bit of online racing!

    5 years in GPL, I've never seen anything like this half wit!!!! :confused:

    As every week, GPL Sunday night, 9pm, 14 laps around Monza, newcomers more than welcome....only racers please! No numbnuts warnings will be barked at you....that's a promise....let your driving do the talking!!

    Yes it was on another forum seperate from here but its one close to my heart and the heart of many on boards.
