    im considering getting eircom FWA

    dsl isnt in my area

just a few questions for wireless newbie

'You get upstream of up to 64k (64 kilobits per second). You get download speeds of 512k (512 kilobits per second)'

is that good for playing ps3 online or pc

and is it good for downloading demos etc

    also

    'The antenna dimensions are: Length - 22cm, Height - 22cm, Depth 15cm.'

anybody have a pic of what the antenna looks like

Those speeds are quite slow. While an improvement over dial-up, they really could be regarded as entry-level broadband speeds. Just as important for gaming is your ping. You'll want this to be rather low as a higher ping will induce delays in your gaming and detract from the experience. The general viewpoint is to stay away from eircom's fixed wireless unless you have to. I suppose it is better than satellite in some ways but still not an ideal solution.

You say you can't get DSL in your area. What about fixed wireless from the likes of Digiweb, Irish Broadband, etc.?

    Nope

    Nope

1MB is faster then your dial up, but for gaming and downloading, you would really need 3MB.

512k download is fine for any game, the 64k upload will be an absolute killer though. Forget using voice chat in any game, if they work.
