I have a wireless USB receiver and I can't find the disc to (re)install the software.
I also don't know what make it is and there is nothing written on it.
Is there any 'generic' software I could use?
    Thanks.

Try the usbview utility from M$ and see if it gives u any clues when the device is plugged in.

I have some cheap crappy one on my pc right now and it loaded as XPC 802.11 b/g Wireless Kit. No branding on the device like your situation, but works fine with those drivers

Why do you need to reinstall the software? are you definite that it has been uninstalled?

Have you tried installing it and letting windows look for the software?
