Lessons on how to play scales up an down the neck?!

    So I've been stuck in a pentatonic rut for ages now and decided to learn all the modes which I have done. But I don't know how to really use them with any real use or how to play them up the neck. Sould I combine modes??

    Anyone got any online tips, tab, lessons to help me??

    I can recommend Guthrie Govans two books, Creative Guitar 1&2.

    I picked the two of them up in Chapters years ago for next to nothing, but even if you had to pay full price, they'd be well worth it, it take you years to absorb everything in it. He covers scales/chords/modes from a beginner level all the way up to clever Satriani-type pitch axis systems etc.

    How could you learn all the modes without undestanding context?
    Sureley if you know all the modes and scales then it's easy enough to see how to use them - her you go anyway

    Hi, Im Just looking at this list. So let me get this straight as the layout has me confused

    if I play any of these chords

    Cmaj7, Cmaj9, C6, C

    then these are the scales that should fit

    C major, C lydian, C major bebop
    C major pentatonic, G major pentatonic

    and so on down the list, right?
