Volkswagon Polo Indicator Noise

Can anyone tell me why why my 02 polo doesnt make that annoying ticking noise when the indicators or hazards are on. As annoying as it is, it truly is handy, ive lost track of the amount of times that my lights have been left on( doesnt make anoise for this either). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers:)
