    Gentlemen,
There is an adverts sister website for these forums.

Please utilise it to sell bikes, amongst other goods. These forums are not to be used as a market place.

Despite that I do believe that dissuading users from making purchases or overpaying for a bike is a vital part of the community. Transactions are not to occur in this forum. Linking to or alerting an advert you have made is legitimate.

Traders are not welcome anywhere on boards.

If I may clarify Uberwolf, I understand it had previously been acceptable to advertise bikes here, of a certain quality/pedigree, due to the somewhat specialised target audience.

So the rule has recently been changed with regard to private bike adverts, correct? I understand commercial sellers/traders have never been acceptable - and quite rightly so of course.

But does this also mean the "Bike parts for trade?" sticky in which people have advertised parts for sale, not just for trade is to be closed? Or is this officially exempted from the 'No advertising' rule? Should this type of transaction be moved to the 'swaps' part of Adverts.ie?

I'm not being smart, just staying on the right side of the rules so to speak.

    Ta,

    Gil

    trading is perfectly acceptable, it's

As is alerting and discussing higher end bikes.

Understandably I don't want the forum over run by €100 MTBs, unless they're vintage Gary Fisher from the 70's!

If someone is looking to make a fast buck, over to adverts.ie with them. High end bikes remain welcome as it's a small audience which would miss something on adverts, but only second hand - so there's no ambiguity on traders.
