Hi there,

How do we protect a trade brand/mark at the european level ?
Is there an entity in Ireland in charge of registering a trade name and protect it from beeing used all over europe ?

And also how much it cost usually ?

Hi,

First you have to register Trademark with Irish Patents Office, which is very simple and not so expensive (application e70 and if accepted after around 6 months another e177).

Based on that application you can aplly for international Trademark. This is much more expensive. I never done international application but it seems to be straight forward but very dear, especially that you have to pay for registering Trademark in each country more then e140 + your fees.

International apllication has to go by IPO, yu can't do it yourself.

Instead of registering in each country of the EU you can get an EU trademark:
