Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lescott played every game for Everton last year. guaranteed points every game... unless he gets injured of course, but he's gonna be on the team sheet for sure..

Gah, i keep chopping and changing - cant leave it alone :/

Have now gone with Giggs - instinct tells me hes gonna bag a goal / assist or 2 against Reading (2nd season slump and all that).

Can't stop changing things either, took the risk of dropping Ronaldo for Scholes and using excess points to upgrade my defence in the form of clean-sheet machines Ferdinand and Finnan. Reckon Scholes will grab a good few goals this season with Hargreaves and Carrick behind him, just hope he's not rested too often.

Van Persie. He's almost certain to play every week and he has been in really good form in pre season.

    Van Persie AND Berbatov

(of the two, however, I reckon Van Persie will have a stormer of a season)

Is Bale going to be taking the frees for Spurs this season, anyone seen them in preseason at all? He could get a nice few assists if he is as handy as his youtube clips make out, dont know if he is worth dropping Dunne for though.

I've put in Ridgewell for Baines. I've had him for last 2 seasons and he's always done well for me. Pops up with the odd goal every few games aswell

Its calf or hamstring? isn't it?

with Given it could be a while. He seems to take an eternity to come back from injury

You can be sure he will be taking any left sided corners / free kicks, Id say he might be back by the end of August, might be worth buying and keep him on the bench for the fortnight :)

Ok, forget about injuries and all that at the moment, which 15 players look better

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,223 ✭✭✭Macca07

And another question, say I have 3 Man United players at the moment, and Carlos Tevez, when Tevez makes the switch to United, will I be able to keep him or will he be removed because I will have 4 Man United players

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,010 ✭✭✭besty

You keep him as far as I know - happened to me with Carrick last year. But, when you go to make a new transfer, you have to get rid of one of the United players to bring it back to 3.

That really sucks, I've had them in my team from the start

worth noting that a high proportion of people will buy tevez as his move to united is inevitable and his price will rise after first week. If you have no money in the bank you may not be able to afford him in subsequent weeks. When do the price rises get added on? Could i buy another player now and transfer into tevez at his current price on sunday evening?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,494 ✭✭✭ronbyrne2005

Also which teams outside big four are gonna have tighest defences? Can pompey keep as many clean sheets again? They started leaking goals at end of last season. Blackburn and everton look like keeping a fair few clean sheets and Sunderland under keane may try to keep clean sheets and build on that. Cant see richard dunne scoring as much points this season with Sven dictating tactics etc and so many new players in team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Id say Sven's team will be better defensively than Pearce's last year. (Asumming they get in another CB).

Also im guessing Newcastle defence is gonna improve immensely. Geremi would be a good buy plus he takes corners and free kicks.

It really depends on a lot of things. If he doesn't play not too many people are likely to get him. If the transfer somehow goes through and he plays and scores a hat-trick (it could happen!) the likely hood is a lot of people will get him in, so his price will rise.

If it wasn't for City's defence last season they'd have been relegated. They'd be doing well to concede less this season after breaking up last seasons partnership.

Pompey are the team for defenders. They've the best defence outside the top 4.

I think Newcastle's defence could really come along next season.

Any good tips for a midfielder in the 6.0 - 6.5 bracket? I have Mascherano at the moment, but is he liable to get me many points, or even start for the pool? Other options include:

    Speed
    Campo
    Hunt
    Milner
    Harper
    Osman
    Carsley
    O'Neill
    Reo-Coker

Id say Mascherano won't be starting every game anyway.

Of those id go with Hunt, Milner or Reo-Coker. Reo-Coker looks like the bargain of the game this year at 5.5. Apparantly been good in preseason. In a new team with the motivation of Martin O Neil i could see him returning to his form of old.

I was hoping Maloney would be my hidden gem this season. The poor lad is terribly home sick though, ahh. Could be re-joining Celtic. If he does settle down and stays at Villa you'd have to have him in your FF team. He got 16 goals and 23 assists in 1 season for Celtic which according to FIFA golden boot rules equates to 10 goals and 15 assists in England. ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,391 ✭✭✭One Cold Hand

Yeah he's a very attacking player so he'd be good value for a midfielder...
