Editing out my post because I don't want to get involved in this.

    RE: "Reductio ad Hitlerum"

This refers to the style of argument that Hitler did X therefore X is bad

e.g. Hitler was a vegetarian, vegetarians are evil.

The point I was making was to do with subjective versus objective views of "good".

By (the closest we can get to) objective views Hitlers ideas where pretty "bad" and he did "bad things".

He himself, however, subjectively thought his ideas where "good" and he did "good things"

Which I was using to prove that because a person or group believes the things they do to be "good", it does not mean those things automatically are objectively "good" and by definition should be freely permitted to be done.

Which is clearly nothing to do with "Reductio ad Hitlerum" except that my point contained the same word. You might as well have linked to an article on the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games for all the relevance to my original argument.

This abortion stuff is pretty shocking! In Dublin you have the animal rights people showing photos of mangled and gorged hares, etc., at College Green. If animal-rights people get away with showing dead animals, what's wrong with baby-rights people showing photos of dead babies?

They shouldnt get away with it.There are groups that set up shop outside Lynchs Castle now and again that have large posters showing mutilated animals.Personally i dont agree with these "shock tactics" all they make me do is turn away ,im not interested in something thats being forced upon me in such a manner.

To compare pictures of vivisection and abortion is completely wrong. I would agree that they are both gruesome, however I would argue that abortion pictures on the streets of our cities and towns are obscene. I often wondered what would happen if I stood beside these guys with pictures of naked people? just to see who got arrested/moved on first.

I don't really care what side of the fence you are on this issue. Its these horrible pictures, they can have a very nasty negative affect on folk. for instance a relative of mine who recently miscarried was in town shopping and came across these guys with their grotesque pictures and it really damaged her, and made her very depressed for a long time.

Why did you only take nice photos of the campaigners? Why didn't you take photos of them being aggressive? Were they? Or is handing out leaflets as aggressive as they got? They seemed pretty calm when I saw them.

The pictures I chose to post showed people involved in the distribution of propaganda, rather than innocent parties. I couldn't get clean pictures of the skinheads or the drunken angry French guy, or the guy with his video camera stuck in the Gardais faces, or the guys roaring "stop the police state". Also, there was a friend beside me with her 3 year old son, so the last thing I needed was these Nazi wannabes (insomuch as they are intolerant of anyone elses point of view) causing me grief for taking their photos whilst they {my friend and her son} were with me.

There were a couple there on Saturday, in the middle of a tight bunch of people. They disappeared just before the Gardai moved off.

what we should do is bring bibles with the good points underlined and ask them if they think the bible is against slavery, alcohol, weed and pornography and then show them key points.

    Next time there around,
stand around them and be freindly,
hold up a poster of some enormous erection or some other obscene image,

and see if any one notices.
