Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I'm listneing to Phantom FM at the moment and a song by The Killers just ended....

The last time I listened to Phantom, I heard some Sepultura followed by Metallica's rendition of 'So What?'.
    Did I miss something?

I've only ever heard that new faux-indie crap whenever I've tuned into Phantom. I used to listen in the mornings only though so maybe they change it up later on in the day.

Maybe you were listening to the metal show that is on from 8pm until 10pm on a Monday the last time you listened, and then listened to some pop show next time you switched it on and found the Killers playing...? Just a thought.

phantom has a metal show (as pornapster mentioned) but it's "normal" rotation is indie rock stuff rather then a good mix of everything.

    Ah right.
I've only listened to it in segments see?
So I assumed it was a mix of everything.

Heh. I just switched it on and they're playing Muse.

They're not a great station but they're the only ones I've heard playing any kind of rock music so for that they get my vote. Not that they've any competition in Ireland anyway.

they're the only ones I've heard playing any kind of rock music

But they play the same songs by the same bands ad nauseam (e.g. I used to love Homegrown by KOL but I kinda hate it thanks to Pfm). The royalty payments must be cheaper that way. Turned it on a couple of weeks ago and the dj was saying "Not enough Zepplien on the radio these so heres..." yes you guessed it "Stairway to Feckin Heaven" and having sat through the tedious first two parts he cuts to an ad break before the good last bit kicks in.....
They bill themselves as Irelands premier music station but they don't play good music that I haven't heard before so whats the point? In fact I can say for certain that I have never gone out and bought music after listening to it for the first time on Phantom

the metal show is definately the best show on phantom. the guy plays a wide range of good metal, including new bands and irish metal. i have actually bought albums and went to irish metal gigs because of it. i'd say i would have never went to the likes of eyesclosed coldwar glyder if it wasn't for him. great start to the week heving it on mondays.

Just a pity the other 166 hours of the week are taken up by ****e that gets played on most stations anyway, in between the pop crap.
