    Hi all,

Poetry Ireland are currently developing a new website and we are looking for a few short reviews to put up once the site goes live.

Because of the vast number of books published each year, many fine books are destined to go unreviewed, and to remain unappreciated except by a select few. Basically we are going to give a page of the site over to neglected books from the remainder trays, dusting them down, and giving them a public airing.

If there’s a lost classic you’d like to share, or just a good read that hasn’t got the publicity it deserves, be it poetry, novel or non-fiction, use this page to let the world of readers share your enthusiasm.

If you are interested just email the review (100 - 200 words) over to us at media AT poetryireland DOT ie

We are in the process of developing a new website and would love to get some feedback from the people we hope will be using the website.

Follow the link to have a sneak preview:
    http://81.17.252.85/~poetry00/test/index.html

    New features will include:

A new design (easy to navigate)
Calendar (Hopefully it will make finding events easier)
Media Archive (Excerpts of poets’ reading from events around the country - including sound and video. This’ll go side by side with our Flickr and YouTube accounts)
Guest Blog (We are inviting poets, critics, bloggers and readers from all over the world to write blog posts for us on various topics)
Book Reviews (Ever have a book that you felt was under-represented? Now you have an international platform to recommend your favourite book)
Feature Articles (A full list of features that have been published in our Newsletter over the last few years)
Forum (Want to discuss your work? Or can’t find a poem? Discuss it with others in the forum)

Looking forward to hearing your comments/criticisms. And please let us know if there is anything that you would like to see added to the site.

The new site looks great. Very easy to navigate - nice and neat.

One thing that would be nice is poets discussing their own works - give us an insight into the process.

Hi guys - thanks for the comments.

OB, we are going to be launching two new blogs: one for ourselves, and another inviting poets/academics/bloggers and readers to come online and discuss topics of their own work and what they are reading.

We are hoping to stimulate conversations and get readers/writers talking in the comments and forum.

    Thats Great.

Im reading a lot of poetry at present - just started into Thomas Kinsella and thoroughly enjoying it. Id love to hear him talk about his own works. I was at teh Gate recently and it was great listening to other poets read his stuff - Dennis O' Driscoll and Derval Kirwan stood out for me.

    OB

Really glad you enjoyed the Gate event.

We had the whole thing recorded and will be uploading the videos onto the site (and youtube) for everyone to enjoy...
