Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have to add of course that reality will soon set in on the NI team. They actually are marginally worse then Macedonia. What happened was teams grossly underestimated them and thats why they got wins.

the term Norn-Iron goes back to the time of George Best,Derek Dougan,Pat jennings to the martin o neill, gerry armstrong era etc when they had cracking teams.

I actually think the whole 'Norn Iron' thing is political and petty tbh. God forbid the Unionist NI fans would have to put the word 'Ireland' in when talking about their own team:rolleyes:

having keyed it into wiki i can confirm your spot on. the name is cool i think but its a pity it originated from petty political nonsense. i always imagined i suppose with them being weaker and all over the years that they broke away from the irish team but it is in fact the republic who are the breakaway team since the formation of the state

The whole 'Norn Iron' thing is not political at all. Northerners, both Protestant & Catholic, frequently laugh at themselves, particularly at how their accents mangle the English language.

Northern Ireland fans have no problem using the word "Ireland" as the most common chant at internationals at Windsor Park is "No-rthern Ire-land" (with the word 'Ireland' pronounced, for them at least, very clearly).
