ah hah that explains it, well I've never bought a shoot video and probably never would but that makes for interesting reading , its ironic people have high moral ground about something like this considering wrestling is one of the most seedy industries on earth, i 'd say theres porn stars whose tales of debauchery dont hold a candle to some of the wreslters who have been on the road and seen everything at this stage

Well next time you may want to mute it as Jerry Lawler was accused of statutory rape.

Well His commentary has been so awfull since he returned in 2001 you'd be better of muteing it regardless.

Yeah, wasn't that the reason Shawn got the survivor series spot in 1993? It was supposed to be King Lawler and his 3 knights vs the Hart family, but Lawler got sent down the river so they put Shawn in his place to capitalise on their Survivor Series match the previous year.

Lawler was apparently cleared of all charges though and was back about a month later.

Not impressed with that release at all, primarily because it has nothing really all that interesting to offer. Pretty much everything on that has been available on DVD for quite some time, so as a result, anyone that has the DVDs of the events isn't gonna want to invest in this.

TNA have a rake of older stuff not previously released, why don't they just do the smart thing and churn it out like they did last year?

Starrcade DVD is gonna be released after all it seems....
WWE's planned "Best of WCW Starrcade" DVD release is back on. Jim Ross noted in a blog on Monday that he spent all day working on the DVD with WWE in Stamford. He also hosted the final, top 5 bouts in Starrcade history for WWE 24/7. Next month is scheduled to be a Starrcade-themed month on WWE 24/7. Ross wrote: "I won’t divulge the results of the voting for the top 25 bouts, especially the top 5, but I will say that some major stars are going to be POed, if you will." Ross appears to be talking about Dusty Rhodes with his "if you will" remark. You can read his blog at this link.

*snore*, why not just release the Starrcades instead of in drips and drabs? I know they can make money this way, but they'd also make money as there are a lot of completists out there too.

    Like me for one!

I agree,I think there still would be a good market, maybe do a Tagged classic like they did with the "In your House" PPV's.

It annoys me that Vinces ego lets hm stand in the way of making money, a boxset or series of WCW ppvs done Tagged Classics stylee would be a huge seller but oh no cant have the "Universe" being made aware of a different (not to mention in its prime more exciting and innovative than current WWE programming) style of show, or seeing current wrestlers in different roles, with different clothes and music and everything!

Whats your point? If his ego hadnt gotten in the way the Invasion angle could have been the greatest wrestling feud ever but no, all WCW guys aside from the ones who had already jumped ship a few years earlier were made to look like jobbers, theres been plenty of times when Vinces ego has made him make bad business and creative decisions

You're still banging on about this? I had this one out with you last year. It had nothing to do with Vince's ego, Vince got who he could get for that invasion angle who weren't sitting out contracts. Hogan was working for XWF, Nash and Hall were still under contract until 2002 being paid to do jack sh*t (something you'd do yourself in the same situation). Same for Goldberg.

The only WCW guys who were made to look like jobbers, were Lance Storm because he was a boring bastard, and Kronik because they were bloody terrible and had a disasterous match with Undertaker and Kane on PPV.

F*ck all to do with Vince's ego pal, but ignorance is bliss, i guess. ;)
    VR!

Edit - one more thing, You never mentioned the ECW side of the Invasion angle, i guess Vince's ego ruined that too. Nothing to do with the fact that the ECW guys were fairly talentless to begin with and that the Invasion angle was an abortion from day one and was done far too early.

While i agree with alot of what you're saying, i have to disagree with the above.
Chris Kanyon and Dallas Page were also left looking like complete tools, following their cage match with Taker/Kane, Mike Awesome was wasted, Booker T was clearly made to look inferior to The Rock, despite being their best shot at being a legitimate main eventer, and in general, they weren't taken seriously as threats.

The "Invaders" only really gained steam when firstly, the ex-ECW guys, who were now WWE guys, joined them. Then at Invasion, it took turning the WWE's biggest star, Steven Austin, to put them over. In fact, continually, they heels only gained momentum in the feud, when someone turned from the other side, continually placing the spotlight on the "WWE" guys in an unbalanced fashion, if you know what i mean... Test, Regal etc... At Summerslam, the Invasion side was almost completely quashed... as the WWE were clearly portrayed as vastly superior.

By October, the hottest storyline going was the rivalry between Jericho and the Rock, two WWE guys!
But yeah, obviously it wasn't all creative's fault, it would have helped immensely if they had access to the biggest stars.. from both sides.

Is that WWE not releasing Starrcades has NOTHING to do with Vince's ego or the Invasion or whatever else you are prittling on about. The fact of matter is that a fair amount of customer research gord into WWE releases and these havent rated that high in terms of demand hence why they waited so long to release the Best of Starrcade.

One look at the volume of old matches and angles Superstar Profile DVDs and the line up on 24/7 would render your point here completely useless.

Chris Kanyon and Dallas Page were also left looking like complete tools, following their cage match with Taker/Kane,

    They couldnt work WWE style.
    Mike Awesome was wasted

No he wast, Awesome was one of most limited wrestlers of that time period. Undertaker got a lot of flak off the internet for saying this but he was right the guy couldnt work. If I was WWE Id never put him in the same ring with Austin the guy was too dangerous.

Booker T was clearly made to look inferior to The Rock, despite being their best shot at being a legitimate main eventer

One was one of the worst drawing Champions in history and the other was one of the best drawing Champions in history. Booker was inferior is he was inferior to all the main eventers. He was given ample opportunity to get over later in his WWE stint but was pretty much a flop as Champion.

Kanyon was bloody awful to begin with! DDP, much as i liked him then, he really only got over by being good friends with Bischoff in WCW, and Awesome had already been wasted in WCW prior to joining WWE, And there's no way you can blame Vince for "That 70's guy"! And Booker was nowhere near main event level at that stage. They weren't taken seriously as threats because they uh, weren't actually threats.
At Summerslam, the Invasion side was almost completely quashed... as the WWE were clearly portrayed as vastly superior.

And rightfully so because most of the WCW guys weren't exactly main eventers in WCW to begin with, Would you have had Angle or Austin job to DDP, Kanyon or Storm back in 2001? And why?
By October, the hottest storyline going was the rivalry between Jericho and the Rock, two WWE guys!

To be fair, Jericho was only in WWE a little over two years at that point, two years less than the time he had spent in WCW, i'd have called Jericho more of a WCW guy at that time ;)
But yeah, obviously it wasn't all creative's fault, it would have helped immensely if they had access to the biggest stars.. from both sides.

My point exactly, Vince's ego didn't kill the Invasion storyline, lousy storylines being one (Steph running ECW? c'mon!), and a severe lack of star power on the WCW/ECW side were probably two of the biggest contributors of that, throw in the fact that it was far too soon to use it as a storyline. It didn't stand a chance.

Another boring match collection most of which has already been featured on DVD. I already have the two tribute shows, while this will be a squared circle cumfest for some people, i'm gonna have to pass on this. It'll end up on sale in less than six months like a lot of Silvervision's DVD's in which case, i'll consider it.

Pity it does not have more of his early Mexican and Japanese stuff there. Might be a decent buy all the same.

What I am more interested in is his tribute night but cannot find it on region 0 or 2.
Once in a lifetime a performer comes along who touches the hearts of MILLIONS worldwide. Eddie Guerrero was one of thos performers. Decimating the "glass ceiling" which had held back dozens of other talented Hispanic and light heavyweight wrestlers - Eddie became one of the most beloved wrestling champions of all time before his unexpected death in 2005. On one special night, the biggest names in Mexican wrestling joined with Eddie's legendary family to pay tribute to a true superstar who was taken before his time.

    1. Hijo del Santo vs. Blue Demon Jr.
