    Q1) Don't know

Q2) If it's a "Dalkey Flick-knife", you'll need to bring the key and your car to a VAG Garage where your old key and your new key will be reprogrammed by means of connecting the car with the factory in Germany. Can't remember how much it costs to have done though.

I think it's €50 for the coding/cutting. I called recently looking for one for an A8, it was €180 all-in. I'd been looking on eBay beforehand, decided it really wasn't worth the small saving.

Wouldn't a timing belt kit for the same engine from a Skoda/Seat dealer be cheaper than from an Audi/VW dealer? VAG cars share most engine components.

But will a dealer code a key they didnt supply. Some will not. Find a Locksmith or diagnostic specialist near you to do it.

Most VAG Dealers won't code a key unless it has been bought from them.
This is due to the number of dud keys being sold on the internet. When they try to code them, they can't be coded, and the dealer has just spent 30mins trying to do so and the customer walks away without having to pay anything.
I know this because I work in a d3ealership and have seen it happen on numerous occasions.
