No, you need to get your cheese sensors re-calibrated ;)

Wouldn't like to be one of those small birds flying down the fretboard :p

On the Tokai v's the Edwards. If it is an EX85 then it could well be MIJ. The MIK ones are available for £299. I am a Tokai fan but of those two Explorers I'd go for the Edwards.

I absolutely love the Dragon by the way, but then again, I am partial to the big of cheese, metaphorically speaking. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

I finally figured it out: The dragon guitar looks like some bastid came along and did a bit of a graffiti job on what would have been a very nice PRS!!! God damn hippies!!
But if you are going to be ridiculous there's always this beaut!!!

Fender Japan '57.....can anyone confirm that \60480 is actually around €360-€365. If that's the case, then, plus tax and shipping, it comes out at under €600.

Gave in and ordered it. Works out at €441 + The Tax, so should come in at about €550 odd fully done.

Deffo thinking about the Edwards as well, if this goes ok.

Nice one. The 57 two tone burst is a thing of beauty. You need to get a mint coluored scratchplate for it though ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

yeh you need to mint it. the two colours shouldn't match but strangely they do.

    they so dont.

mint and cream might work nicely tho and no i'm not talking about ice cream here.

    You're 1960's decor :p

It works like a mint cornetto, that's proof enough. You are wrong, HB says so, just get over it :D

Well, with the strength of the euro against the dollar at the moment, that black one should cost just about a grand all in, rather than two grand. Part of the fun is taking advantage of a great deal when one pops up :)

    Micheal Amott's signature ESP Ninja

    1.jpg
Alexi Laiho's signature Sythe. I defintely prefer the original Japanese model with the chrome hardware and unfilled black arrow decal.

I really like the black Gibson Les Paul Custom with the chrome pickguard that Tony Rombola from Godsmack uses, can't find a pic right now though. :o

That black Jackson V is sweet. It's the only type of pointy death guitar I could ever think of getting. Well that or a Gibbo one. There will only ever be one pointy death guitar, the V, end of!

That's mine. Its semi-on-hold for a fella from MetalIreland.com, got bored of bumping the ad here so I just closed it.

Caparison are incredible guitars - there's no production line, every instrument is effectively a 'custom shop' guitar (ie handmade), and the quality is unreal. The neck especially - its gorgeous unsealed maple and compound radius front & back - best neck on any guitar ive played, period. I just prefer the familiarity & layout of my J-Customs, been playing RGs so long anything else feels worse in comparison.

I'm giving into my GAS and ordering an Edwards les paul. My GAS also led me to recently acquire an expensive McIlroy guitar. That GAS had been present for about 3 years I think but unfortunately the money wasnt :D

Go on, if we're just throwing up pics of random guitars we'd love to own, I may as well fire up some Ibanez porn:

Jem10th, passed up on one of these when funds were short, prices are gone too high now, i'll never bag one :(
    JEM-10A.jpg

Petrucci 90th anniversary. Nice but too pricey as well :(

Middle one is real nice. I have a bog standard RG270 at home and I dont trust the horn stud for the strap. Dunno why. They look flimsy to me.

I can attest that J Customs are beyond fantastic... If you think that baby there looks good, you should hear how incredible it sounds and plays. Astonishing doesn't come close to describing it. ;)

Nice guitar but personally I think the inlay is horrible. Takes the whole look away from the guitar. No inlay work would look a lot nicer on that particular guitar IMO

Just as well you're not a guitar designer then, or the Strat would have never got past the proto stage ;) I don't know a strat or strat style that doesnt put the stud at the tip of the horn (though im sure there are a few), it's a tried and tested design.

Where would you have them put it, the headstock?

I would actually say they are too figured, in my humble opinion. I feel kinda seasick after looking at the depth of that quilted one :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Quattroste

I'm not a massive fan of the quilted guitars either and I would most likely go for the spalted maple or similar. There are 6 pages of Sugi guitars and I couldn't be arsed to go through them all (again ;)) to find the really nice ones.

Not just just the horn as such, just the horn on Ibanez's cause they are so sharp. I mean the horn on a strat is much thicker and rounded etc

It's just an optical illusion - the button isnt attached to the tip of the horn, it's held by a screw that runs right into the wood. The shape of the surrounding wood or the sharpness of the horn is irrelevant.

You don't need to understand why it works, suffice to say it does - even the RG/Jem shape is a 20 year old design. Tried and tested ;)
