you need to get a diseqc motor unless you want to leave it on 15W, along with 80cm dish. you can get one ,moteck sg2100a ,off this german ebay site http://cgi.ebay.ie/Moteck-H-H-DiSEqC-1-2-Motor-SG-2100A-NUE-OVP_W0QQitemZ200126017793QQihZ010QQcategoryZ85437QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
for about 60 euro incl. delivery. he sells a suitable wall mount for motor here on his
website shop if you do not have sturdy bracket http://www.digital-sat-online.de/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=164 .problem with buying off main site rather than ebay site is its a bit dearer and you must pay by bank transfer. i emailed him asking could he send above bracket which is not on ebay site ,and he gave me a total price for 2 brackets along with motors from ebay site.

Good work. There's 'E! Foxtel / Sky NZ' FTA on that frequency too.

Just to clarify, CNBC Europe is on 11062, H, 19280 - same as on Astra 19E. And now with E! Foxtel (Australia) / Sky NZ as mentioned by ro2.
    e15w_tel.jpg

    MSNBC is on NET-53 on 11525, H, 1500.
    msnbc15w.jpg

DAD-2 is intestesting because late at night it often carries programmes direct from US - 11529, H, 1500
    dad2tel15w.jpg

It can be a bit of a pain to get receivers to lock onto NET53 and DAD-2 especially in poor weather.

    Also DAD-6 is on 11534, H, 3194. DAD-5 is now encrypted.

I have often wondered why my receiver (Manhattan ST250) wouldn't lock on to DAD-2 sometimes:( Now I realise I'm not alone! Even with perfect dish alignment and excellent weather it's still a bit of a lottery. You get nada for a while, then the signal strength and quality will be up at 90% once it locks. I've also noticed that sometimes I'll get the NET53 stream on the DAD-2 transponder, then I change channel to DAD-6 and back again to DAD-2 and I get the proper stream next time. This all happens within about 30 seconds. I notice that the video and audio IDs are the same for DAD-2, NET53, DAD-6, even though the transponders are different (different frequencies).

Any theories (or better still, hard facts!) on why this happens? I've always been puzzled why this occurs - only on this group of transponders. I thought that it might have been a quirk in my receiver on NTSC. I've no problems like this on other satellites from 55E to 58W.

There are a couple of things going on. Most receivers have more difficulty locking on to a narrow bandwith SCPC transmission (low SR) than a large MCPC one (high SR). Also the DAD channels have high FEC of 7/8 with limited error correction - a much higher signal level is required to get decent quality. In my experience with Manhattan Plazas, they seem to have a specific problem with FEC of 7/8.

To make things even more complicated both DAD-2 and NET53 have the same PIDs and are spaced only a few MHz apart, so depending on LNB or tuner drift, the receiver can easily lock onto the wrong one. If you look at the pic for MSNBC the SS2 shows that it's locked onto DAD-2 when it should be NET53. The tuner in the SS2 is rubbish.

One kludge is to enter a range of frequencies from 11520, 11521, 11522 ... 11529, 11530 each with SR 1500, H and scan them all. Chances are that the receiver will correctly lock on DAD-2 and NET53 in 2 of those.

No its not rubbish at all, funny isnt it, I can always guarantee I lock onto NET53 and DAD-2 and know im watching the correct station on my SS2.

CNBC EU on 15w has been known to show the NBC National feed but this has not been the case for some weeks, its a different distribution method than the CNBC EU's seen elsewhere its controlled from another point I belive.

Ive often seen feeds for CNBC EU on there too.

The narrow spacing (4 MHz) seems to be causing the Manhattan problems. I have manually set the tuner freqs and it seems to be reasonably ok, but for some reason I can't record DAD-2. I used to be able to do this some months ago (I think it was called CE2B then). The CNBC feed seems to be CNBC Europe - the graphic indicates this. Thanks for the feedback:)

    C2EB is DAD-6.

I had a play around with my ss2 on 15w to see if I was locking up the right channels with these American feeds. No problems, lock on to the 1500 sr channels after about 15-20 seconds.

It looks like Zaphod is using the 2.3 revision of the SS2, I have the 2.6 revision, different tuner IIRC. Don't know what you have Remlap, or if this makes any difference.

Personally I think SS2 is a pretty darn hot piece of equipment, even before you consider its price.

Sorry, going off topic a bit.

I have the 2.6 as well.

CNBC EU is now using 4:2:2.

I'm getting sound but no picture on CNBC on 15W.

    Yeh - memory is failing:rolleyes:

By the way - is there a standalone receiver that will handle 4:2:2? I don't particularly want to be using a laptop and tuner card, but am interested in feedhunting. Sorry for drifting this off topic....

As 12bore mentioned, different revisions with different tuners. I think your location might also be somewhat removed from the combined, malign influence of Carrauntuohill, the Reeks, Mt Brandon and the North Atlantic Drift! :D

I have an r2.6 somewhere in a box but use the r2.3 for the blindscan feature. It's probably unfair to call them rubbish - maybe mediocre. Certainly, they have failed to lock weak Ku and C band signals which other receivers have coped with. But considering their price and the amount of freeware available, they're still very good value.

Quali TV 1080 - try ebay. Works well with 4:2:2 but the menus are not the most userfriendly and there's no channel editing software available. There are rumours floating about on a possible future 4:2:2 upgrade for the Fortec Passion but no definitive confirmation yet.

Not sure if completely relevent to this thread but The Business Channel 12133v on Turksat2A 42E is currently airing West Wing (with Turkish subtitles) 11.00pm Mondays.
They also seem to show various US films at night all original sound but Turkish subtitles
