Eircom Broadband seems to have been acting odd all day. Many websites (including Gmail and Boards.ie) have been taking an age to load or just plain timing out then all or a sudden they load perfectly again. Also Emails from my Eircom account are taking an unusually large amount of time to send. Anyone else noticed anything? I'm in the Stillorgan area of Dublin.

All .ie websites are working fine for me, anything else is hit and miss.

Same here. It's incredibly slow. Even the Google.com or .ie home page wont load for me.

Well at least its not just me!

Any ideas on when it will be fixed?

    Think I found a workaround.

    Use the following DNS's:

    Primary : 159.134.237.6
    Secondary : 159.134.248.17

I'm awful at this type of stuff, how or where do I enter them?

Same here. Changed DNS addresses and things have improved somewhat.

Very odd. Lots of sites loading without pulling down the CSS stylesheet.

Working fine now using a new DNS.

Just change your primary DNS to 159.134.237.6 instead of your router.

Change it back to your router after Eircom have sorted the prob.

(sorry, it's all in Irish, but you should recognise the windows)

I was having same problem up to 10 minutes ago, nothing worked except MSN Messenger did the diagnostics test on the router and it said the "IP Failed".

I slapped the router around and it works grand now :)

is there anything wrong using the following:

Preferred DNS server address for Open DNS is:

    208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS server address for Open DNS is:

    208.67.220.220

Like it says to in this link:
    http://www.opendns.com/start/windows_xp.php

Ive changed it to that and it has improved things.....

Having alot of errors with Eircom up here in Bray too.
Works, but very slow, and lots of pages wont load at all.
Ill try some of those work arounds now

Going to stick this out without trying a fix to see how long it lasts.

Its now ranging bad to unusable.

I've read that site and I'm intrigued, does it really make things faster (than when eircom is working properly)? I'm using my laptop over the wifi at the moment, will I have to go to the desktop to change the dns settings or is it different for each pc? Does it have side effects, will I have to change back to the original dns to use some websites?

Does it improve download speeds? Thanks in advance.

Yes and do changes have to be made to the router?

I was having problems with Eircom in work all day. Slow downloads, unable to open webpages etc. Got the same problems at home now !
