    Looks Good

Where did you end up getting the cups

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,438 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr Magnolia

Shop in Dundalk - RQO'Neills. €25 for 6 cups & saucers (bodums) and I wasn't waiting on delivery. Including P&P they were around the same as the online prices.

Is there any decent retail outlets around you? There are some suppliers online linked above worth looking at if there's no-where convenient to you.

  • Registered Users Posts: 99 ✭✭banaco73

you did well on line they are £20.00 + P&P

    €25.00 Locally a good Deal

I will keep my search up.

Thanks Mr. Magnolia, I noticed when you did your video that we had the same cups. Great minds and all that... :D

That Cranberries song was the only one in my collection with with the word 'coffee' in the title.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,438 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr Magnolia

Great minds indeed. Your clip is very well done Howard. Did you add the music through youtube?

This one is using my home roasted Colombian beans. The crema actually settles. After a few seconds it drops by about 5/6mm.

Love the creama Mr. Magnolia :D

Music over the video is done in Vegas, it's another story and hobby of mine. Depending on your video source you could probably use the XP built in movie maker to do the same.

    Cheers

Fair play mr m, better than an awful lot of my early efforts.
    You have the fundamentals down.

To reduce the bubbles try to get more of a roll going in the texturing stage.

Maybe try a thinner stream (raise the jug higher) for the follow through.

    Otherwise well done!

Thanks for the great tips, I'll have a few more attempts over the weekend hopefully.

Also worth playing around with the angle of the steam wand. I've recently changed to an almost 45 degree angle for the wand, entering at the spout and pointing to the handle.

For the stretching, the tip is just beyond the half way point (closer to the handle), then I either tilt the jug forward, so the tip is submerged closer to the spout, or I tilt the jug, so the base goes right, at about a 30 degree angle.

A lot will depend on what you are comfortable with, and to a certain extent your milk pitcher shape. On ch2008's tip, I picked up a 12oz (pictured above) and 20oz pitcher from Sweeney O'Rourke on Pearse St. Very cheap, but I find the shape and size to be great, good spout too.

I now prefer them to the motta I had been using, and the espro toroid, which I never liked.

Bottom line - experiment with wand angle, and get that roll going - a good roll will take care of a lot of unwanted bubbles.

    Super, will do.

To anyone else reading and making an attempt at latte art, one of the most important things I've found so far it the need to accelerate the pour (of the milk and then foam) when decorating the latte ie. when you're nearing the end of the milk and starting your design increase the tilt of the jug and pour relatively quickly.

Jumping off the 6oz cappa cups for a change - to a 10oz latte cup.

    So big.
