Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I,ve brought in the van from Germany and have weighed it privately at 2880kg. No gas bottles, water tanks empty, almost full tank of diesel. Can anyone suggest ways of making up the extra 120kg, the saving by doing so should more then make up the expense of "accessorising". Any tips/suggestions gratefully accepted.

Check out the link below for some ideas

Also, while they can visually check the clean water tank, how about having the toilet casette full (of water....another 17kg or so) and waste water tanks full (another 80kg or so)........dont know if you would get away with it but might be worth a try

Personally I still think that the gas cylinders should be in there (and full) when getting weighed ...after all, it's not a camper without gas. Mine were never questioned when I got my yoke weighed.

    Other useful accesories are:

    awning ~30 kg
    second or third battery ~20kg
    bike rack ~10 kg
    motorbike carrier ~30kg
    roof box ~ 20 kg

toolkit and bottle jack ~ 15-20 kg

Rolex, I think it was you that posted the question earlier..........how did you get on. How did you end up getting to the 3000kg mark?

I know gas bottles are excluded but what if I were to get an lpg tank fitted instead. Would this be feasible? Anyone know where it could be done?

Rolex made it over the 3K, I think he's currently in Spain,
An awning is one option, a good heavy jack, levelling blocks etc.
I'll sent you a PM with a few more thoughts on the subject.

Dunno if its entirely legal but i know of someone who fitted a metal box to the underneath of the camper and filled it with ballast to bring the weight up!!!they just took it off afterwards.

Does anyone know if its legal/what happens if ur caught doing it??

Doesn't sound legal, does it? :D

Have no idea what would happen if you're caught, but I'd imagine best case scenario you just pay your VRT, worst case you get a court case for (attempted) tax evasion/fraud.

I'd also suspect the more we write about "trickery" here, the closer the inspectors will look in the future
