    I am a newbie to the diving world and want to get my PADI license. What is the best way to go about it?

    I did 2 dives in cairns 2 years ago and 2 dives in Jamaica last year and I want to get qualified now. Who is the best to contact and best course to do?

    I plan to get it done asap with my girlfriend. Any ideas?

    Depends where you are in the country, if you want to get PADI certified then go to their website and look for Dive Centres in Ireland, there is bound to be one in your vicinity;

    or alternatively if you want to investigate the Club Scene try the Irish Underwater Council;

    Hope this helps,

    The other alternative is to take a week in somewhere sunny and do your OW course there. Malta is a nice spot, has plenty of diving centres, and is cheap enough. Just try to find somebody decent. If you decide to go this route, post your plans here and no doubt somebody on boards will know a decent centre nearby.

    The reason I suggest this is that while the diving in this country is fantastic (some of the best in Europe for definite), it is a lot different to the dives you would have done on the GBR or the Caribbean. It's colder for starters!

    Saying that though, I started diving here, and a lot of the best diving I've done has been here, so don't be put off.
