Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    In a meaningful match :D

    Copa America has so far been fairly good like la liga but with more south american players :o

    10 pm SS1 and p2p

    Roberto Abbondanzieri;
    Javier Zanetti, Roberto Ayala, Gabriel Milito, Gabriel Heinze;
    Javier Mascherano, Juan Sebastian Veron, Esteban Cambiasso,
    Juan Roman Riquelme;
    Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez

    Thats just dealy even Veron has been playing very well.

    Gilberto out for Brazil, gonna go with Argentina win as they are well up for it.

    It's gona be a good match for United fans, Veron, Heinze and Tevez :)
    Also Anderson might get a run out hopefully (comes on to score a brace to win it :P)

    wouldn't be surprised if it's actually less :D

    Hope Argentina get it. Also hope that Brazil suffer long term for the lack of effort shown by Kaka, Ronaldhino, Adriano et al. Can't see their return for more 'high profile' events like the world cup going down too well with the rest of the squad.

    id be shocked if anderson got a game to be honest - dont think dunga is a big fan of him despite his comments in the media - id say argentina will do it but it wont be easy and it will probobly depend on how robinho plays for brazil......

    I really can't see anything but an Argentina win. I've actually got them minus 1 goal handicap at 5/2. Very confident they'll do it.

    I think it'd be silly to write of Brazil, it's not like they don't have quality in the squad.

    I think they have to rely on Argentina having a bad day tbh which doesn't look likely. I think they'll miss Gilberto too much.

    Brilliant cross in by Alves to force Ayala into the mistake.
    At least I think it was Alves, could've been Maicon.

    €20 @ 10-3 for Brazil win 10 minutes before kick off with Paddy Power, looking good...

    It's an intriguing game I have to admit.

    From a nuetral point of view I would like to see Argentina get an early goal in the second half.

    Messi looks like he could split Brazil open if he got some support from midfield.

    gago for veron or requelme neither has done a lot vs the brazil mid.

    Well that was interesting. Argies totally devoid of any creativity it seems and highlighting why playing without wingers can be a ban thing. Veron was a shambles. Riquelme once again highlighting why he was not picked up. Messi was busy but kept in his box. Tevez did scratch all either. Think it might be fair to sum up Argentina as a bunch of bottlers.

    I think Brazil may be becoming the Chelsea of international football... well at least tonight.

    Pretty boring tactics that makes the other team play bad and a boring but convincing victory that makes the game look more interesting than it was.

    They done it quiet well though and looked considerably more threatning when attacking.

    Baptista...what a goal. Holy ****! A rocket!!!!!

    Argentina lost it in the midfield. Veron and Riquelme were absolutely terrible. It's amazing taht two players, who are as fantastically gifted as they are, could be so completely non-chalant and lazy. Is it any wonder that both players have high-tailed it back to South America because they couldn't hack it in Europe?

    Veron and Riquelme couldn't hack it in Europe? Are you on crack?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,951 ✭✭✭DSB

    Well Veron wasn't good in England to be fair. But Europe is a ridiculous statement.

    To quote one of the commentators - "Veron's carear has been reborn during this tournament"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,951 ✭✭✭DSB

    The man did have a career before he joined Man United you're aware?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,441 ✭✭✭✭jesus_thats_gre

    Yeah think I remember that - been that long ago now though so its a bit hazy.. Incidently, what has his performances and career been like since then? I am guessing they have been no where near the standard he set for himself 6 or 7 years ago before he went to United. I think that the commentator saying that his career has been reborn during this tournament is a fair enough assesment.

    well his return to Argentenian football with Estudiantes last year was pretty damn impressive as they snatched the title from Boca Juniors. and having wached at least the higlights of all the games he played for my work i can honestly he say was immense and one of the major reasons for their sucess.

    He didnt suite the Premiership, simple as.

    Every free kick from Riquelme was an absolute waste.

    Why wasn't Crespo brought on at half-time?

    Where the fck was Tevez during the game?

    :(

    Agreed

    Probably not fit enough

    Same place Veron, Messi and Riquelme were.

    To be fair to Riquelme he was hacked down everytime he touched the ball.
