    Suggestion:

24 min comic table w/ prefolded pages for teh ppls who randomly drop in. its' only 24 mins and only adorable.

dang it and I went and left my long arm stappler in kilkenny. I'll bring along some extra paper, ink, nibs and stuff. Might make some muffins too....... My brother is going to drop in and video some of it for a youtube type thing at some point. also I'll bring print offs of the random tittles like last year. Shades any chance you've got a copy of the poster handy for the door?

I'm debating about bringing along my powerbook [apple managed to fix it *happy dance*] scanner and wacom and trying for a digital comic but i shall have to think some more about that tomorrow.

Bob is coming for part of the day and I've had a couple of emails with questions about the cost [ITS FREE] and what not over the last couple of days so should have some newbies giving it ago. It would be nice to have the same number as last year [15] or maybe a few more but honestly I don't mind how many show as long as everyone has fun.

I think we'll have more people just popping by this year - or at least I hope we will.

O and Saruwatari come along and enjoy - I just ask that you give your parents a heads up.

for some reason i have it in my head that a 24min comic can be done on a single sheet of a4 but i could be wrong. no need for a giant stapler then sure :)

also, i needs to go find me some supplies tomoz prolly. where's teh nearest spot in dublin in the event taht i find mah self too busy?

O i was thinking they'd do 4 pages per sheet and stick 'im together or you can do super minis with 8 pages per sheet.

Easons on o'connel would prob be the best option for supplies. The tin o' markers are out in my car but im not sure I should bring them this year.

might be safer if you dont. cant be introducing the young un's to solvent abuse at too young an age :D im thinking i might hunt down my paintbrushes adn use waterbased paints.

Thanks for the replies Ztoc and Shades. 15 last year, that all?
BTW, is it being held in one of the rooms used during Subcon?

15 was round the average for most of the 24 hour comics day events worldwide last year - the only places that really had alot more then that were events held in schools. In the states alot of the events are held in comic book stores [like Jim's in New york] that stay open all night. As its still a store they usually only have 3 or 4 people doing the dare and everyone else just coming to have a look. Last year all the artists took up at least two spaces with their work and supplies so we actually had just enough room.

Remember this is different to a comic con - no signings, or panels, or tables selling stuff. Its easier for people to drop in to a con for an hour or two before or after work or even during a lunch break but not everyone can give up a whole 24 hours + the time to get there and get home and recover. There was a comic con last month and another one next month so this is meant to be a really different event so as not to clash with either of the other events.

I couldn't make subcon due to some family stuff but I assume they used the function rooms so yeah we're prob in one of the ones they used.

Yup I got some posters left that I can bring along no problem. Do you need a hand setting up at all? Tree the nearest stationors would be Easons on Nassau St or Reads just a little bit further down if you want to get stuff cheaper. Think I might be popping in there myself although I've tried to remember to bring what I needed last year. I also know thumb will be there for the 24 hours so that's at least 4 nut cases ;)

Other then checking they put the right name downstairs this time and sticking a poster up on the door, theres not really any set up. The hotel sets up the tables and we bring all our own supplies. Oooooooo that reminds me - I will bring black bags for rubbish :D

    Great stuff!

Just noticed the link in your sig, is that a new comic project you're starting? Looking forward to it if so, most of the Irish webcomics I'm aware of seem to have tapered off and died :(

Yeah, it's something i've been working on for a while now, so just wanted a place to put it up on the web along with all my other drawings/comics etc. so hope to have it up and running soon after 24hr day...

Un-bloody-fortunately, I won't be able to come tomorrow. Partly because I'm needed at home to mind my younger brother, and I don't think my parents would be satisified with me staying 24 hours in a Dublin hotel on my own, even though they'd like for me to go.
Ah feck it, I'll wait till' next year. Will someone take photos or summit?

    Ow. Ow. Ow.

Everything hurts. On the plus side, I got home relatively unscathed after making the stupidly long commute there and back from London, and it was a giggle. I must admit I'm dreading seeing my comic scanned though, as I think I'd forgotten how the story started by the time I was drawing the last couple of pages... still, the Prince Harry bit was good :D

What did everyone else make of the day?

I want to write up a report and scan some pages in and get photos and video footage up but my head hurts to much lol Going home on the train I kept falling asleep then waking up and freaking that I'd missed my stop.

I thought we had a good day - we'd more people then last year attempt the full 24 hour comic - better ranage of ages with young Luke and Paul at 12, some student types and upwards. The twenty 10 years olds arriving in from the community center was fun if a little scary at first. The constent dethklok references and people shouting out "SCOTCH" alot. New dead baby jokes. Bob flying through his comic......again. There was alot going on and when my brian wakes up I shall try and make some sense of it all.

And on that note....justin timberlake, justin timberlake, justin temberlaaaaaaaaaaaaaake [repeat for 2mins 30sec]...thank you james kochalka.

Don't forget the gayest straight love song ever written to an action hero : "Yippe ki yay, mother f*ckeeeeeeeeeeer!" etc :D

My head still tired- Thanks so much for the great day/night/twilight. Lovely to put faces to all the user names! Would have stayed an extra hour if I'd known the Luas only starts at 7am on sunday! I'll get my comic scanned and ready for presentation hopefully by the end of the week.
Lots of random memories from the event, but I still don't quite know how to put them into words just yet!

    :D:D

GAH! that blooming song!! trouser snakes in my head all night long!!

I woke up sunday at eleven. Pleased as punch with myself for a glorious sleep that wasn't on the cold hotel floor like last year.. Only to realise I'd no cover page (which was to be number 24 and which I'd comvinced myself I'd done). Ran upstairs pencils in hand yelling "THERE'S STILL TIMMMMmmme!". EVrything done and dusted and coloured (badly) with 6 minutes to spare *phew*

Yes - it's still tiny, Yes - It's one pic a page, Yes - It's stick men BUT it's mine and at this rate I will be on A4 size in 2 years

She also wins the prize for the most unusual comic, what with deciding she wasn't arsed drawing fairly early on and resorting to crochet instead. An unusual storytelling medium, but what the hell :D

Here are few bits and pieces for people while we get the irish comics online and hopfully some video by the end of the week.

Heres a chart showing the numbers from all the different events, along with page counts - interesting stuff. See we weren't the only fools, uh, I mean dedicated artists, staying up all night. I'll email everyone who was at the irish event during the week to get a final page count from them so we can update our little section of it.

And here's a few links to some of my fav 24 hour comics from this year [so far] Paul Maybury, Dan Goldman and Collin David

The Art of Cake Diving was awesome in a very surreal sense (and lovin' the art), can't wait to see more.
And hats off to Fysh, a damn good larf indeed too!

Oh good god, it's even less coherent than I'd feared. I seem to have both forgotten to incorporate certain bits of dialogue that I thought I'd added, and also confused words utterly (I can't remember what I'd meant to write instead, but I certainly didn't mean for the bald guy to ask if someone was trying to give him a haircut..."

I fixed page 22, somehow uploaded page 23 twice - maybe it makes more sense now fysh? ;)

I meant to ask this earlier....Cliodhna, do you have page 25 of my comic kicking about anywhere? (You know, the really bad army of darkness rip-off one.) Just wondering how that turned out, given that I could barely see at the time of drawing it...

ha ha no, I'd love to say i did , but i didn't get the colouring done in the 24 hrs- I got it all pencilled, inked and the first page coloured by the time i left (6am), so i might have got it all done had i stayed till the end but i doubt it- Took me 3 extra nights to finish the colouring.
