Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Which wireless solution?

    I need some kind of wireless solution for a laptop and am a bit fazed by the choices out there. Should I go for USB or PCMCIA? What models are sure to work with minimum of hassle?

    Do you already have a laptop or is this for an existing laptop ?

    PCMCIA seems to have much better support than USB.

    what distro , as you could look up the list

    usb (if you can get drivers) is bulkier but will work on desktops and even if you don't have an external antenna connection you can use metal foil reflectors

    pcmcia the antenna is in a fixed position - only really a problem if you have weak signal

    do you need native support or will ndis wrapper using a windows driver do ?

    I think I'd prefer PCMCIA as it's a little tidier and I don't foresee needing to use it with the deskop.

    I'm looking at a TRENDNET W421PC for 20 euros and have found a detailed installation guide here but I'm wary that the manufacturers often switch chips without necessarily changing the card model number.

    I've no moral objection to using ndiswrapper if it works. Are there any significant performace issues or does it require more jiggery-pokery to start up each time than with a native linux driver?
