Alright lads, fair play with the cup win....probably a good thing I wasn’t around for the penos . So who’s available for this match tomorrow at 19:45 against Riverdeep in 3 rock rovers?

Is Sav back as a full time squad member? Hope so, cos the squad has been badly needing another central midfielder. Anyways, hopefully there’ll be a good turnout tomorrow so we can move on from the one goal league losses to start getting a few league wins under the belt.

Well, that seems to be it, apart from Keith, who seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet:confused:

Our full squad, as it is at the moment at a match

    I have a selection headache.

Yeh, pity Keith's not around these days. Maybe he's still injured after that boat accident?

    When's Enda back from holidays?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

I think Enda said he was away for five weeks, about two weeks ago.

Might be back for our last two games? Maybe the last one, maybe next season, maybe never? Who knows?

Good news, a sewage pipe burst in our office sending a literal lake of poo running around our front door (seriously). This is good news because it means we're not getting our interviewee to come in today and so i'll make it to the match :)

    Hi there Lads:

Just back from seeing a Doc - I've been advised not to play so I'm out for tonight.

    Sorry lads.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,

    Mikie.

Brilliant, but make sure they don't cancel the interview. then nonchantly place 3 chairs in the middle of the lake, ask him to take a seat and proceed to interview him as if nothing has happened. then make facial expressions suggesting you've detected a bad smell, mumble to your boss that your man obviously has terrible personal hygiene and get the boss to tell him "you're just not good enough for a company with our high standards". wait for his reaction, stick the tape up on youtube and you're golden.

result was a 1-0 loss with their goal coming in the 2nd half, fairly close match thought we should have snuck one back

Yep, another hard luck story losing by a single goal when we really should’ve at the very least had a draw unfortunately.

We played some lovely football in the first half and made a few good chances, midfield and forwards were syncing up very well. Second half highlighted the job Shay normally does for us cos he was missed in the middle second half and we lost the middle as a result. Gap between midfield and forwards got bigger and we didn’t manage to build as many good moves as we did in the first half. They came into the game a lot more and had a few good chances, but a lot of that was due to us pushing to chase the game, and we really did create several clearcut chances that if we a bit smarter about should’ve at least given us an equaliser.

From their perspective their goal would've been great - a lovely flighted ball over our defence being well met by a man on the back post. From our perspective we know we should never have given that man so much space.

Very competitive game and was gutting not to at least draw, though the first half in particular showed how much we’ve improved in recent months.

Totally Shays fault for abandoning us :D

The first half was excellent. It was great to see us pressing on them and taking the risk in going forward. I know the lads at the back had their hands full with 3 to 4 plays when we were up attacking.

But you got to have something to genuinely loose it. And this was another game where we honestly had the game, just needed to confidently put one or two in the back of the net. They had some potential to play great football but we worked hard throughout the game to stop that. In the end they got a nice goal when no one was really expecting them to score.

Keeper done well during a bit of a scuffle in the box. Went through one of our players to punch the ball away. Which is alway great to see! Reminds me of the Schmeichel days.

another suckerpunch game, where we dominated in terms of chances, but missed what ever came our way. first half, Joe, Jules and Sav all went close with them offereing nothing. we defended really well, as we have done for alot of the season (and everybody takes credit for that, not just back 4) and midfield was on top. Shay left at half time and that set us back abit but we still pressed and pressed and had 3 more chances, 2 of which we should have scored. all of these were 1 on 1's, but their keeper, pulled off 3 great saves in all fairness. their goal came with just over 10 left, in fairness was a good goal. we pushed on to get an equaliser but couldn manage it, we had one more chance where we should have equalised but again, their keeper pulled off a save...

so, for about the 7th time this year, we have lost by 1 goal.we should have won at least 3 of these and have got maybe 10 points or more from those games, if we had 2 more things - being clinical in front of goal and a bit of luck......if we get a solid team for next season, then i think we can improve both of those 2 things.
