Ok the company I work for is looking into a way of hosting their sites locally in case out server hosts ever go down (its happened twice before)

I'm wondering what company and package would be good to go with for website hosting?

It would preferably have little contention, no upload/download limit, high upload speeds... etc, all the ticked boxes you'd need to host a site.

So what are my options? Who do the likes of blacknight and other website hosting companies use?

It's horrendously expensive unless you have fibre, which is very expensive if you are not using it.

    Better/cheaper to have a 2nd Hosting supplier.

Ok well I still need a recommendation, regardless of price. The CEO has got it into his head that we can eventually be entirely autonomous, and not have to use any hosting companies, rather house our own servers locally in our offices.

We don't have the option of fibre. So who would be the next best bet for horrendously expensive BB for hosting sites. The packages eircom are offering look useless.

Would it be an idea to get a few BB lines and just load balance them for incoming and outgoing traffic?

Hosting a website locally will cost a fortune, its all coroperate packages you'll need to be looking at so best to contact BT Business, Eircopm Business regarding corp leased line packages as ADSL will not cut it for hosting atthe end of the day...thats if you want to go down that route.

Personally I';d recommend a dedicated server with a webhost as a backup, http://www.layeredtech.com/ comes to mind as they have some good offers and decent spec...I'm sure there's eqiv Irish hosts.

    or
    http://www.layeredtech.com/dedicated-servers/specials.php
    or
    http://www.layeredtech.com/dedicated-servers/business.php

    Has some decent prices.
