This leads me to believe there is no audio in the movie file. I'd like to post a screenshot because of all the info in GSpot, but I can give the highlights here...

re-install your ac3 codec and try playing the file again..

That was exactly it. I only assumed that the 20 or so editing programs I have should have at least come with all the codecs I would need...
