NCT query

The NCT on my car it up on the 18th of August. It's my first car every so this is all new to me. With tax I automatically got notification by post but I've got nothing related to the NCT yet. What's the procedure? Should I call them or just sit and wait? Are you given a grace period for NCT expiry like you do with tax?

Get the chassis number off the car and ring them to get an appointment, I got a cancellation one morning, for a 2.30 appointment - which was dead handy. Do it whenever you get a chance cos its 2 years from the day its due even if you do it a month before its actually due!
