COUNTY COUNCIL SOURCING TEMPORARY BRIDGE FOR LEENANE
    Thu 19th July 2007
Galway County Council is looking at putting one of two temporary bridges in place at Leenane, Connemara after the village's main bridge collapsed last evening.

Local Minister Eamon O Cuív says if the 2 bridges available aren't big enough, the council will look at sourcing alternative structures.

He says funding a new bridge isn't an issue and any delays would be 'purely mechanical' due to engineering work.

But the Minister says he expects the temporary structure to be in place in the next two weeks.

Local people and conservationists hope the new structure will be in keeping with the character of one of the country's most scenic villages
