Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Odd assumed it would never happen as we were told by GAA heads here not so long ago.

Have to be massive teams to ensure sellouts Brazil/Argentina/Italy/Pats?

I think it is amazing how you lads always find to twist and turn to a way to slam the GAA. A while back you were slating the GAA for not allowing "foreign games" into Croker, now they have done so and they are accused of being "greedy". You just can't win with some people...

I can't see how "being greedy" has anything to do with it, all of the money gained goes straight back into the game itself. If the FAI did the same you would be praising them to the high heavens.

    Give it a rest lads.

KdjaCL, your post just shows what Pornapster is saying. Thomas Davis have nothing to do with Croker or opening it up. He points out that its not being greedy allowing soccer in Croker and you move on to another totally unrelated topic to slam them.

I didnt slam them as being greedy in the 1st place, the TD issue is not unrelated its complete hypocrisy from the GAA on the Rule 42 issue which now should basically say "what we want, when we want, and if dont get it mega hissy fit".

To be fair, its not as if the GAA have done nothing with that money. Look at the amount of GAA clubs in ireland that all get grants and stuff from them. A lot better than any football clubs in ireland.

Personally i think its really good for fans, slightly off topic but is it open for all foreign games? IE rugby?

I reckon there'll be a few big freindlies. If they didnt get big teams, i stuggle to see why anoyne would want to se ireland play soccer. There **** to be fair.

Maybe because some people support their team through the bad times as well as the good.

And believe me, I know all about it!!! :D

Sure i go to west brom matches every year, they've had their fair share of downs. Still miles more interesting to watch than Ireland.

Bizarre that a thread in the soccer forum about the GAA opening up Croke Park for friendly soccer games brings criticism on the GAA  The oul chip on the shoulder brigade are out in force :D

Personally I'm disappointed as I was hoping there'd be no home friendles for a couple of years. Much prefer away friendlies, where ar least you know we'll have a go and its more likely to be a decent game. So often in home friendlies the away team doesnt try a leg and you get dreadful games. The prices charged by the FAI for stand tickets for friendly games were exhorbitant in Lansdowne, so likely they'll be worse again in Croker. Hopefully they'll get big name opposition to semi justify it. In any event there'll probably be a very big crowd as block bookers have to continue to shell out if they want their guaranteed tickets for the competitive games.

Absolute rubbish. Thomas Davis is a club acting on their own accord to get the use of Tallaght stadium (which is now owned by SDCC) am I right? Therefore they have nothing to do with the GAA apart from the fact that they are a club that plays the sport. It has absolutely nothing to do with other GAA clubs, the Dublin GAA county board and the GAA itself. Thomas Davis is Thomas Davis. THEY ARE NOT THE GAA. Want me to make it any clearer to you?

Personally, I don't know enough about the whole Tallaght stadium issue to go into it too deep but I do know that it isn't owned by Shamrock Rovers any more. Therefore I think that TD are well within their rights to go for the use of the stadium.

Now on to the whole Rule 42 issue. So you say that the GAA have big hissy fits if they don't get their way... What about the FAI when they found out that Rule 42 stopped them from playing in the GAA's STADIUM. Waahhhhhhhhhhh, were not allowed to play in Croker waaaahhh, Government money went into Croker, wahhhhhhhhh, we never get any grants (€190m for Lansdowne redevelopment doesn't count and the many millions handed out to us over the years doesn't count either) wahhhhhh... And you talk about hypocrisy. I was for the abolishment of rule 42 by the way.

Fact is, that eircom league fans, and indeed other soccer fans in this country are insanely jealous of how well the GAA is run and of the GAA themselves. It shows with every one of these threads. So again, give it a rest. Look into your own club/associations state of affairs before blaming it all on the big rich and greedy GAA.

Argentina or Spain would be my choice. We've played all the rest of the big teams recently enough.

There's been talk of a cup between Ireland/Wales/Scotland/Norn Iron and possibly England. It'd sell like hotcakes.

England would be great, (Let us get our revenge for being constantly beaten in Rugby:D ) but I can't see it somehow. The "No Foreign Sports In Croke Park" Celtic shirt brigade would have a field day at that one:p . I think the next match between England and Ireland will be a tournament qualifier.

Norn Iron, Wales and Scotland may be up for a tournament, but most clubs already complain about the number of matches the players play, unless it is big money tours of the far east of course, so I would be surprised if it came off tbh.

I thought Thomas Davis were being backed by the Dublin County Bogball Board?
