The fads I've noticed at the moment seem to be either
a: Giant Slogans in Bold letters saying things likes
"Drop Acid not bombs"
"Frankie says Relax"
or
b: Angular abstract designs in florescent colours

Personally, I like neither.

t-shirt hell and cafe press are good places to look for inspiration. Slogans with some acompanying graphic seem to be the norm.
