Pro Evo on XBox Live?

I just got the US version of Pro Evo and was playing a few online games when I noticed I only seem to be paired with opponents based in the US? Is the US version not compatable with the European one? I'd really prefer to be playing people who actually understand the game rather than some 12 year old twerp in the Mid-West…
